Esther McGregor

Esther Rose McGregor, born on October 22, 2001, is a British actress, model, and musician. She is known for her work across fashion, music, and screen acting.

McGregor was born in London to Scottish actor Ewan McGregor and French-Greek Jewish production designer Eve Mavrakis. She grew up with three sisters—Clara, Jamyan, and Anouk—and later gained a half-brother, Laurie, from her father's second marriage to actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Her great-uncle, Denis Lawson, is also an actor. Raised Jewish and bilingual in English and French, she attended North Bridge House School in North London. At the age of 11, her family relocated to Los Angeles, and she later attended New York University.

Her career began in modeling when she was 16 years old, landing her first job alongside her older sister, Clara. McGregor went on to model for high-profile fashion brands, including Fendi, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, and Celine. During her modeling career, designer Miuccia Prada personally selected her to open a spring/summer show in Milan.

In addition to modeling, McGregor has pursued music, business, and tattooing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she formed a band called French Thyme, which released its debut EP in 2020. She also trained as a licensed tattoo artist and established a tattoo shop named Pink Ether in New York City.

McGregor transitioned into screen acting in 2022, making a cameo appearance in the second episode of the Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi. That same year, she played the character Natalie in the coming-of-age drama series High School, which was adapted from the 2019 memoir by Tegan and Sara Quin.

Her acting career has continued to expand with several television and film roles. In May 2024, she was cast in the Amazon Prime Video series We Were Liars, based on E. Lockhart's 2014 novel. In June 2026, she secured the role of Rachel Amber in the television adaptation of Life Is Strange. She also starred opposite Zach Braff in the 2026 film Clean Hands, written and directed by Jake Allyn. In October 2026, McGregor was cast as Violet Sorrengail in Fourth Wing, an adaptation of the 2023 novel by Rebecca Yarros.
