British actress and visual artist Esther McGregor has been cast in the lead role of Violet Sorrengail for Prime Video's upcoming television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling fantasy novel Fourth Wing. Industry trade outlets confirmed the major casting decision on October 15, 2026, ending months of intense online fan speculation surrounding the highly anticipated series.

The project, produced by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society, adapts the wildly popular Empyrean book series. The story follows Violet, an intelligent aspiring scribe who is thrust into the brutal Basgiath War College, where candidates must endure deadly trials to become elite dragon riders defending the kingdom of Navarre. German actor Emilio Sakraya has been cast opposite McGregor as wingleader Xaden Riorson.

Born in London in 2001, McGregor moved to Los Angeles with her family at age eleven and later attended New York University. She comes from a notable film background as the daughter of Golden Globe-winning Scottish actor Ewan McGregor and French production designer Eve Mavrakis, though she has deliberately built her own distinct creative footprint across acting, modeling, music, and tattoo artistry.

McGregor launched her screen career with roles in the Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi and high-profile indie feature films. She recently earned critical acclaim for her turn in the erotic thriller Babygirl alongside Nicole Kidman and appeared in director Pedro Almodóvar's drama The Room Next Door. On television, she is set to star in Prime Video's upcoming mystery series We Were Liars. Outside of acting, she opened her own New York tattoo studio, Pink Ether, at age nineteen and performs musical releases as part of the duo French Thyme.

Production on Fourth Wing is scheduled to begin in early 2027 under showrunner Meredith Averill. The lead role represents a breakout moment for McGregor, positioning her at the center of a major multi-season television franchise.
