Daisy Edgar-Jones

Daisy Jessica Edgar-Jones is an English actress born on 24 May 1998 in the borough of Islington, London. Her Irish mother, Wendy, is a former drama film editor working in real estate, and her Scottish father, Philip, is the director of Sky Arts and head of entertainment at Sky. Raised in Muswell Hill, London, Edgar-Jones first acted in a school play in Year 2. She attended The Mount School for Girls and Woodhouse College, was admitted to the National Youth Theatre, and studied with the Open University. She also took ballet lessons until age seven, earning a Grade 1 certificate, before resuming classes in 2025.

Edgar-Jones began her screen acting career in 2016 with an appearance in the Outnumbered Christmas Special on BBC One. At age 17, she was cast as Olivia Marsden in the ITV comedy-drama Cold Feet, a role she played from 2016 to 2020. On stage, she acted in the National Youth Theatre's 2017 West End production of Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Her early projects also included playing Jessica Timpson in Silent Witness (2018), appearing in the independent film Pond Life (2018), taking a recurring role as Delia Rawson in Gentleman Jack (2019), and portraying Emily Gresham in the first two seasons of War of the Worlds (2019–2021).

In 2020, Edgar-Jones achieved a major career breakthrough starring as Marianne opposite Paul Mescal in Normal People, a BBC Three and Hulu romantic drama limited series adapted from Sally Rooney's novel. Her performance earned her nominations for a British Academy Television Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Critics' Choice Award. That same year, she starred in a revival of Albion at the Almeida Theatre, later broadcast by the BBC, and was named on British Vogue's list of influential women.

Edgar-Jones expanded into feature film and major television roles in 2022. She starred opposite Sebastian Stan in the thriller dark-comedy Fresh, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and took the lead role in the mystery film adaptation Where the Crawdads Sing. She also played a Mormon murder victim alongside Andrew Garfield in the FX on Hulu crime miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, receiving a second Golden Globe Award nomination.

In 2024, Edgar-Jones featured in her first big-budget film, the disaster movie Twisters, starring opposite Glen Powell. She also executive produced and starred in the period romantic drama On Swift Horses. Returning to stage acting in 2024, she participated in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at Soho Place on the West End and played Maggie opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir in a West End revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Almeida Theatre.

Edgar-Jones was cast in the thriller film A Place in Hell in 2025 alongside Michelle Williams and Andrew Scott, as well as a movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility as Elinor Dashwood. In January 2026, she became a Global Brand Ambassador for Estée Lauder. In her personal life, she dated her Pond Life co-star Tom Varey from 2018 to 2020 and has been dating photographer Ben Seed since 2023.
