Kat Cunning

Katrina Cunning, born November 12, 1989, is an American performer who works as an actor, dancer, singer, musician, and model. They are recognized for their work across stage, television, and music, having appeared in prominent theatrical productions, screen dramas, and original musical projects.

Cunning was raised in Gresham, Oregon, and is of Greek heritage. The middle child among three siblings, they grew up with two brothers and began dancing at three years old. To begin their dance career earlier, Cunning graduated a year ahead of schedule from Centennial High School in 2007. They later attended SUNY Purchase, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance.

Their professional career began with performances in Baroque-Burlesque Operas produced by Company XIV. Cunning made their Broadway debut in 2016 in Les Liaisons Dangereuses and subsequently joined the cast of Cirque Du Soleil's Paramour and the New York City production Sleep No More. They were also featured in Refinery 29's sold-out event 29 Rooms and performed as an opening act on a sold-out North American concert tour for the musician LP.

Cunning expanded into screen acting with a recurring role as Christina Fuego during the final two seasons of the HBO drama series The Deuce, starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. They went on to portray Sabine, a mysterious chanteuse, in the Netflix series Trinkets, based on books by Kirsten Smith. Cunning also performed the role of Reina Reign, a white rapper, in the Issa Rae television series Rap Sh!t.

In addition to acting, Cunning is a recording artist who officially signed with Lava Records on August 20, 2020. Their discography includes the singles "Baby," "Wild Poppies," and "Stay on the Line," which earned praise for their explicit themes of queer sexuality. Their song "For The Love" was characterized by Billboard as a rallying cry for strength and hope, and Cunning also recorded a cover of Alexi Murdoch's "Orange Sky" for Hulu's 2019 miniseries adaptation of John Green's Looking For Alaska. Two of their original songs, "Birds" and "King of Shadow," were featured in Trinkets.

Cunning's acting achievements include winning Best Actor for the project Nothing Serious at the 2016 Trail Dance Film Festival, as well as Best Supporting Actor for Pepper and the Salt Sea at the 2016 Damn! Series. Cunning currently resides in Los Angeles and is non-binary and queer, using they/them pronouns.
