Born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in Kobe, Japan, Mina trained in classical ballet for over a decade before pursuing a career in popular music. She was scouted in Japan and joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in South Korea in 2014. In 2015, she competed in the reality survival television show Sixteen, earning a final spot in Twice's debut lineup.
Since debuting with Twice in October 2015, Mina has contributed vocals, choreography, and occasional songwriting to the group's extensive discography. In 2023, she launched the sub-unit MiSaMo alongside fellow group members Sana and Momo, debuting in Japan. Beyond her group discography, Mina has engaged in individual high-fashion activities and brand endorsements.
