Gerald Anderson

Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. is a Filipino actor, director, and professional basketball player born on March 7, 1989. Recognized in the Philippine entertainment industry as the "Action-Drama Prince," he is managed under contract by ABS-CBN's talent agency, Star Magic. He gained widespread popularity through lead performances in television dramas such as Sana Maulit Muli, Tayong Dalawa, Budoy, Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel, and Nathaniel, as well as feature films including On the Job.

Anderson was born in Subic, Zambales, Philippines, to an American father who worked as an instructor at the Subic Naval Base and a Filipino mother who was a businesswoman from General Santos. During his childhood, his family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and Springfield, Missouri, before returning to General Santos when he was 14 years old. Anderson is fluent in English, Tagalog, and Cebuano. He completed his elementary schooling in Texas and graduated from high school in General Santos.

His career in entertainment began when actor Joross Gamboa noticed him in his hometown and introduced him to talent manager Jhun Reyes. This led to Anderson joining the first season of ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006, where he finished as the Teen Third Big Placer. Following the reality show, Anderson formed a popular screen partnership with co-star Kim Chiu. The duo appeared in several television series, including Love Spell, Sana Maulit Muli, My Girl, and Tayong Dalawa, alongside feature films like First Day High, I've Fallen For You, Paano Na Kaya, and Till My Heartaches End.

Anderson expanded his acting credits with roles in projects such as Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla: Tiagong Akyat, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo, Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, and the drama series Budoy. His film work includes collaborations with Sarah Geronimo in Catch Me, I'm in Love and Won't Last A Day Without You, as well as Star Magic's anniversary film 24/7 in Love. His performances earned him industry recognitions, such as the Best New Male TV Personality and Best Drama Actor awards, along with frequent features in prominent entertainment magazine listings.

Beyond entertainment, Anderson has played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League for the Marikina Shoemasters, Imus Bandera, and the GenSan Warriors, and participated in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 league. He also joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary K9 Squadron Unit in 2016, eventually attaining the rank of auxiliary captain. In 2024, he received the Search and Rescue medal for aiding rescue efforts during Typhoon Gaemi in Quezon City, and has provided support to various communities.

In his personal life, Anderson has been in publicized relationships with actresses Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Bea Alonzo, and Julia Barretto. His personal interests include collecting vehicles, Iron Man action figures, and sneakers such as Nike Air Force 1s and Air Jordans.
