Marian Rivera

Marian Rivera Gràcia-Dantes, born on August 12, 1984, is a Filipino actress, commercial model, singer, dancer, and television presenter. She is widely recognized for her lead performances in romantic drama films and hit television series. Over her career, her feature films have accumulated more than ₱1.9 billion at the Philippine box office. Her achievements include multiple FAMAS Awards, PMPC Star Awards, Box Office Entertainment Awards, and a Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival Award. In 2020, Forbes Asia highlighted her as one of the most influential celebrities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Rivera was born in Madrid, Spain, to Francisco Javier Gràcia Alonso and Amalia Rivera. After her parents divorced when she was three years old, she moved to the Philippines with her mother. She was brought up in Maragondon, Cavite, by her maternal grandmother, Francisca Rivera, while her mother worked overseas. Rivera completed her early education at Saint Francis of Assisi College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from De La Salle University – Dasmariñas. Following her graduation, she evaluated patients and distributed medication at a mental health facility in Mandaluyong.

She initially worked as a ramp model during her elementary school years and later appeared in television commercials for brands such as SkinWhite Lotion and Sky Flakes Biscuits. Producer Antonio Tuviera subsequently recruited her for afternoon soap operas. Rivera made her feature film debut in 2005's Enteng Kabisote 2: Okay Ka, Fairy Ko... The Legend Continues, which earned her a nomination for New Movie Actress of the Year. After taking on various supporting roles and signing with Regal Entertainment, she achieved widespread stardom in 2007 as the lead in GMA Network's adaptation of MariMar.

Following her breakthrough, Rivera headlined prominent television productions, including Dyesebel, Darna, Endless Love, the historical drama Amaya, and Temptation of Wife. Her performance in Temptation of Wife gained her broad recognition across Asia, leading to television appearances and fan events in Vietnam. She also showcased her comedy skills in sitcoms like Show Me Da Manny and Tweets for My Sweet, and co-hosted the reality program Extra Challenge. Her notable film credits include One True Love, Shake, Rattle & Roll X, You to Me Are Everything, Super Inday and the Golden Bibe, Ang Panday 2, Kung Fu Divas—which she also co-produced—and the 2023 release Rewind.

In addition to her screen acting, Rivera released two studio albums, Marian Rivera Dance Hits and Retro Crazy, both receiving official sales certifications from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. She became the first Filipina inducted into the FHM Philippines Hall of Fame after being named the country's sexiest woman three times. In 2021, she joined the selection committee for the Miss Universe beauty pageant.

Rivera was appointed by the Congress of the Philippines as an honorary ambassador for women and children with disabilities and actively volunteers for charity organizations. She is the most-followed Filipino public figure on Facebook. Since 2017, she has served as the host of the drama anthology television series Tadhana.
