Maine Mendoza

Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza-Atayde, known professionally as Maine Mendoza, is a Filipino television host, actress, comedienne, and social media personality. She gained nationwide and international fame in 2015 through her viral Dubsmash lip-sync videos and her breakout role as Yaya Dub on the long-running Philippine noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!. Recognized for her expressive comedic timing and charismatic online presence, Mendoza has established herself as one of the Philippines' most influential digital creators and television figures.

Early Viral Success and Television Breakthrough

Born on March 3, 1995, in Santa Maria, Bulacan, Mendoza pursued a degree in Culinary Arts at De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde before entering the entertainment industry. In early 2015, her hilarious Dubsmash compilations—most notably her impersonations of media personality Kris Aquino—garnered millions of views online, earning her the title "Queen of Dubsmash". Her viral digital momentum landed her an audition with Eat Bulaga!, where she officially joined the cast in July 2015. On the show's popular "Kalyeserye" segment, her unscripted onscreen chemistry with actor Alden Richards unexpectedly spawned the "AlDub" phenomenon, a pop-culture juggernaut that shattered global Twitter engagement records and dominated Philippine media.

Media Career and Brand Partnerships

Beyond her signature role as Yaya Dub, Mendoza expanded her television portfolio as a permanent co-host on Eat Bulaga! and featured in various primetime series and films. She made her feature film debut in the 2015 romantic comedy My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore, winning Best Supporting Actress at the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival, and later starred in Imagine You & Me (2016), for which she also wrote and sang the title soundtrack. In 2021, she began hosting the lifestyle-travel series Maine Goals. As a major digital influencer, Mendoza became the first Filipina to collaborate with MAC Cosmetics on a custom lipstick line named after her Instagram handle.

Personal Life and Social Media Presence

In October 2017, Mendoza published her autobiographical book, Yup, I Am That Girl, which topped local bestseller lists. In July 2023, she married actor and politician Arjo Atayde in Baguio City. Residing in the Greater Manila area, Mendoza continues to engage millions of fans on social media, sharing lifestyle updates, travel adventures, comedic clips, and behind-the-scenes moments from her television projects.
