Sam Milby

Samuel Lloyd Milby is a Filipino-American actor, model, and musician. He initially gained widespread public recognition after appearing in the first edition of the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother. Following his appearance on the program, he established a long-term career as a screen actor and recording artist in the entertainment industry.

Milby was born on May 23, 1984, in Troy, Ohio, United States. His father, Lloyd William Milby, was an American businessman from Ohio, and his mother, Elsie Ronquillo Lacia, is a Filipina hailing from Tago, Surigao del Sur. In 2005, Milby relocated to the Philippines to pursue professional opportunities in show business and modeling.

At the start of his career in the Philippines, Milby secured bit roles in several commercial advertisements. He eventually gained broader attention after securing a lead role in a Close Up television commercial alongside Barbie Almalbis. He subsequently entered the house for the first edition of Pinoy Big Brother, a show featuring twelve individuals from various backgrounds. Although Milby was not among the original twelve housemates, he joined the cast after a previous contestant departed from the show.

Following his reality television appearance, Milby signed a contract with ABS-CBN. He made his major feature film debut in Close to You, a project produced by the ABS-CBN subsidiary Star Cinema, in which he co-starred alongside John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. Alongside his acting work, Milby launched a music career, releasing his self-titled debut studio album in early 2006.

Milby expanded his musical endeavors through live concert performances. He headlined a concert titled "Heartthrobs" at the Music Museum on February 2 and 3, 2007, which was repeated on March 17, 2007, following its success. On October 25, 2008, he held his first major solo concert, titled "Sam Milby: Rockoustic Heartthrob," at the Aliw Theater. Over his career, he has toured and performed in various concerts across Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States.

In 2012, Milby spent three months in the United States to participate in auditions in New York. During this period, he performed in tours and concerts, playing the role of Lazarus for one night in the Broadway musical Godspell. He also appeared as a guest performer at Anna Maria's Benefit Concert in New York alongside her Godspell co-stars Corbin Bleu, Wallace Smith, Nick Blaemire, Eric Krop, and George Salazar.

In 2013, Milby attended the Cannes Film Festival, where the Adolfo Alix Jr. movie Death March, in which he acted, was screened in the Un Certain Regard section. In the same year, he supported a PETA campaign advocating for the transfer of Mali, the only captive elephant in the Philippines, from the Manila Zoo to Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand.

In his personal life, Milby revealed on May 23, 2020, that he was in a relationship with Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray. The couple announced their engagement via social media on February 16, 2023. In 2024, Milby shared that he had Type 2 Diabetes. In 2025, he revealed that he and Gray had ended their relationship, later sharing that the breakup left him in an emotionally vulnerable state.
