Wang Junkai

Wang Junkai, also known as Karry Wang, is a Chinese singer and actor who gained widespread recognition as the leader of the musical group TFBoys. Born on September 21, 1999, in Chongqing, China, he officially debuted with the group on August 6, 2013, alongside members Roy Wang and Jackson Yee.

During his childhood, Wang was mainly raised by his grandparents because his mother worked as a hairdresser and his father was a taxi driver. In late 2010, he enrolled as a trainee with TF Entertainment, eventually remaining as the sole trainee in his cohort. Prior to his debut, he participated in audition shows, released online song covers—including a performance of Aska Yang's track "Onion" that attracted media coverage—and took part in the TF Family mini album I Don't Want to Change. In 2017, he passed his college entrance examinations and gained entry to the Beijing Film Academy, where he completed his studies in 2021.

Wang began releasing solo music in 2016 with the self-composed single "Ode to A Tree." His second single, "Memory in Ferris Wheel," featured on the web series soundtrack for Finding Soul and spent three consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard China V Chart. That same year, he landed a supporting role in the Zhang Yimou film The Great Wall. In early 2017, he released the Li Ronghao-produced single "Homeward," which was recognized among the Top 10 Songs at the Fresh Asia Chart Festival.

Throughout 2017, Wang expanded his television and film projects, joining the cast of the variety show Give Me Five, serving as China's promotional ambassador for Kingsman: The Golden Circle with his song "Become a Gentleman," and celebrating his eighteenth birthday with the single "Karry On." He starred in the film adaptation Miracles of the Namiya General Store, recording its theme song "Train in the Mist" alongside Li Jian and earning the Golden Phoenix Award for Best Newcomer. He subsequently starred in the youth drama Eagles and Youngster, joined the voice cast for L.O.R.D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties 2, and appeared in Lu Chuan's film Bureau 749. On November 1, 2019, he held his inaugural solo performance, Karry's Dream Concert 2019, at the Cadillac Center.

Beyond acting and singing, Wang set a Guinness World Record in 2015 for having the most reposted message on Weibo. In 2017, Nike invited him to contribute to designing Air Max footwear, and he walked in Milan for Dolce & Gabbana before ending his ambassador partnership with the brand in November 2018. He became the youngest male celebrity on the covers of Harper's Bazaar and L'Officiel Hommes, served as Swatch's global brand ambassador, and partnered with Visa China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China for a co-branded credit card. In August 2019, he performed "Onion" as a guest with Ashin and Mayday at the Beijing National Stadium.

Wang has also taken on various public service roles. Appointed a Special Envoy of Youth Action for World Life Day in March 2017, he later established the Kindle Blue Fund charity on his 18th birthday to construct mountain libraries for children. The United Nations Environment Programme named him a National Goodwill Ambassador in April 2018. He was listed on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 index, ranking 12th in 2019 and 10th in 2020.
