Sidharth Malhotra

Sidharth Malhotra is an Indian actor who works in Hindi cinema. Born on January 16, 1985, he initially established himself in fashion modeling before transitioning to the film industry. He has earned various industry accolades, including two Filmfare Award nominations, and appeared on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list between 2016 and 2018.

Raised in Delhi in a Punjabi household, Malhotra is the son of former Merchant Navy captain Sunil Malhotra and homemaker Rimma Malhotra. He attended Don Bosco School and Naval Public School, later graduating from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. At age 18, he embarked on a four-year modeling career before stepping away due to personal dissatisfaction. After an initial acting opportunity under director Anubhav Sinha fell through, Malhotra gained industry experience as an assistant director on Karan Johar's 2010 film My Name Is Khan.

Malhotra made his onscreen debut in Johar's 2012 teen drama Student of the Year, which earned him the Stardust Award for Breakthrough Performance – Male and a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He built on this momentum with the 2014 romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee and the thriller Ek Villain, the latter becoming a notable box-office success. After starring in Brothers in 2015, he featured in the commercially and critically successful family drama Kapoor & Sons in 2016.

Following this initial period, Malhotra faced several box-office setbacks. He appeared in the romantic comedy Baar Baar Dekho in 2016, followed by dual roles in the action comedy A Gentleman and a lead role in the mystery film Ittefaq in 2017. He then starred in the drama Aiyaary in 2018 and the romantic comedy Jabariya Jodi in 2019, alongside the commercially successful action film Marjaavaan.

In 2021, Malhotra received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Vikram Batra and his brother in the biographical war film Shershaah. The movie became the most-viewed film on Prime Video in India at the time of its release and secured him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. He subsequently appeared in the fantasy comedy Thank God in 2022, the thriller Mission Majnu in 2023, the action film Yodha in 2024, and the streaming series Indian Police Force. In 2025, he starred in the romantic comedy Param Sundari and was cast in the folk thriller VVAN: Force Of The Forrest.

Outside of acting, Malhotra is an active corporate endorser for various brands and has participated in charitable causes, including a dog sterilization campaign with PETA and benefit events for flood victims in Uttarakhand. In his personal life, he married actress Kiara Advani in a traditional ceremony in Jaisalmer on February 7, 2023. The couple welcomed their daughter, Saraayah, in July 2025.
