Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi-language cinema, along with appearances in Telugu films. Born on March 6, 1997, to actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, she made her professional acting debut in 2018 with the romantic drama Dhadak, which achieved commercial success. Since her debut, she has appeared in a wide range of film genres, including biographical dramas, horror comedies, political thrillers, and action pictures.

Kapoor was raised in Mumbai within a prominent cinematic family. Her paternal grandfather was filmmaker Surinder Kapoor, and her uncles Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor are both actors. Her younger sister Khushi is also an actress, and she has two half-siblings, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor, from her father's prior marriage. She completed her schooling at the Ecole Mondiale World School in Mumbai and later pursued an acting program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California. Shortly before her debut film was released, her mother passed away in February 2018 in Dubai.

In 2018, Kapoor starred in Dhadak, a Hindi remake of the Marathi film Sairat, directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions. The film earned over 1.1 billion rupees globally, establishing itself as a box-office success and earning her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. She followed this with a role in Zoya Akhtar's segment of the 2020 horror anthology Ghost Stories on Netflix. Later that year, she played the title role in the biographical drama Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, portraying an air force aviator. Released directly on Netflix due to pandemic restrictions, her performance earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Kapoor played dual roles in the 2021 horror comedy Roohi, followed by a leading role in the 2022 streaming release Good Luck Jerry. In late 2022, she starred in the survival drama Mili as a woman trapped inside a freezer, a performance that earned her a second Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. In 2023, she featured alongside Varun Dhawan in Nitesh Tiwari's digital release Bawaal, playing a married woman traveling across Europe.

The year 2024 saw Kapoor in three diverse projects. She starred as an aspiring cricketer in the sports drama Mr. & Mrs. Mahi and played a diplomat in the political thriller Ulajh. She also made her Telugu cinema debut opposite N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in Koratala Siva's action film Devara: Part 1, which grossed over 5 billion rupees to become the highest-grossing film of her career. In 2025, she appeared in Neeraj Ghaywan's drama Homebound, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the romantic comedies Param Sundari and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

In 2026, Kapoor featured in the Telugu action release Peddi alongside Ram Charan, which achieved commercial success. Her upcoming projects include planned roles in Lag Jaa Gale and the film Raaka. Beyond her acting career, she has endorsed brands such as Nykaa, Drools, and Aldo, and has appeared on multiple media lists recognizing prominent personalities in Indian entertainment.
