Rakul Preet Singh

Rakul Preet Singh is an Indian actress and former model who works predominantly in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil language films. Born on 10 October 1990, she has established herself in Indian cinema through a wide range of roles across multiple regional film industries. Over her career, she has received several honors, including a South Indian International Movie Award (SIIMA) and four nominations at the Filmfare Awards South. She is married to actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani.

Singh was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi Sikh family to Kulwinder Singh, an Indian Army officer, and Rajender Kaur. She attended Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and later earned a degree in Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College in Delhi. She began modeling at age 18 while attending college. In 2011, she competed in the Femina Miss India pageant, where she won the People's Choice Miss Indiatimes title alongside four subtitle awards, including Femina Miss Fresh Face and Femina Miss Talented.

She made her acting debut in 2009 with the Kannada film Gilli. After returning to complete her studies, Singh resumed her acting career in 2011 with the Telugu-Tamil bilingual Keratam (released in Tamil as Yuvan). She followed this with supporting and leading roles in Tamil films such as Thadaiyara Thaakka and Puthagam. Her performance in the 2013 Telugu commercial success Venkatadri Express earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 61st Filmfare Awards South. In 2014, she made her Hindi debut in Yaariyan and starred in the successful Telugu films Loukyam and Current Theega.

Between 2015 and 2018, Singh achieved major commercial success and breakthrough recognition in Telugu cinema. She played lead roles in high-profile projects including Kick 2, Bruce Lee, Nannaku Prematho, Sarrainodu, Dhruva, Spyder, and Rarandoi Veduka Chudham. Her work in Nannaku Prematho earned her the SIIMA Award for Best Actress (Telugu). She also expanded into Tamil and Hindi cinema during this period with films such as Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru and Aiyaary.

Singh continued taking on varied roles across languages from 2019 onward. She starred in the Hindi romantic comedy De De Pyaar De, followed by films such as Marjaavaan, Runway 34, Doctor G, and Chhatriwali. Her South Indian projects in this period included NGK, Manmadhudu 2, Konda Polam, and the 2024 releases Ayalaan and Indian 2. Her subsequent projects include Mere Husband Ki Biwi, De De Pyaar De 2, and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.

In addition to acting, Singh is involved in commercial endorsements, business ventures, and social work. She has endorsed brands such as Eva and Liberty Shoes and was appointed brand ambassador for Telangana's Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative in 2017. She operates a franchise of F45 Training gyms, co-founded the talent app Starring You, and co-launched the millet-based restaurant Arambam in Hyderabad. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she provided food relief to families in Gurugram and led crowdfunding efforts.
