Born in Mumbai, Sutaria is the daughter of Himanshu Sutaria, who is a Hindu, and Tina Sutaria, a Zoroastrian from the Parsi community. Her name means "star" in Sanskrit, and she has a twin sister named Pia. Both sisters trained in classical ballet, modern dance, and Latin American dances at the School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance, the Royal Academy of Dance, United Kingdom, and the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing, United Kingdom. Sutaria earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Media from St. Andrew's College of Arts, Science and Commerce.

Sutaria has been a professional singer since seven years of age, performing in operas and competitions. She joined Disney Channel India as a video jockey and played Vinnie in The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir in 2012 and Jassie in Oye Jassie in 2013. She has recorded music for films, advertisements, and original works, including the song "Slippin' Through My Fingers" for the production Blame It On Yashraj. Additionally, she played Sandy in a production of Grease, performed solo concerts in London, Tokyo, Lavasa, and Mumbai, collaborated with Louiz Banks and Mikey McCleary, and sang as a soloist for the Stop-Gaps Choral Ensemble at the NCPA for over a decade. She was also a finalist in the 2008 Pogo Amazing Kids Awards.

After being shortlisted for Princess Jasmine in the 2019 film Aladdin, Sutaria debuted in Student of the Year 2, earning a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Later in 2019, she played Zoya, a mute music teacher, in the action film Marjaavaan, which grossed ₹65.35 crores worldwide. In 2021, she starred alongside debutante Ahan Shetty in the romantic thriller Tadap.

In 2022, Sutaria reunited with Tiger Shroff in Heropanti 2 and portrayed Aarvi Malhotra in the action thriller Ek Villain Returns. Seeking to showcase her acting range, she took on the title role in the 2023 survival thriller Apurva, released on Disney+ Hotstar. Following a three-year hiatus, she appeared opposite Yash in the Kannada action film Toxic in 2026.

In 2019, Sutaria was the eighth highest trending personality on Google in India and appeared on Times' 50 Most Desirable Women list in 2019 and 2020. In May 2026, she was named an honoree for the Women in Cinema Gala hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation at the Cannes Film Festival. She supports animal welfare and feminism, has walked the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week, and endorses brands including Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Hazoorilal Legacy Jewellers, and Nature 4 Nature.
