Wamiqa Gabbi

Wamiqa Gabbi is an Indian actress known for her work in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films as well as Hindi digital streaming productions. She made her screen debut as a child in 2007 and later established herself in Punjabi cinema through roles in comedies and dramas. Over her career, Gabbi expanded into regional film industries across South India and gained critical recognition for her performances in web series and mainstream Hindi cinema.

Gabbi was born into a Punjabi family in Chandigarh on 29 September 1993. Her father, Govardhan Gabbi, is an author who writes in Hindi and Punjabi, while her mother, Raj Kaushal, is a teacher who owns and operates a junior high school. Gabbi attended St. Xavier's School in Chandigarh and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at DAV College, Chandigarh.

Gabbi began her screen career at age thirteen with a brief appearance in the Hindi romantic comedy Jab We Met (2007). Following minor roles in Love Aaj Kal (2009), Mausam (2011), and Bittoo Boss (2012), she secured her first lead role in the drama Sixteen (2013). That same year, she made her Punjabi film debut in the comedy Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22. She subsequently expanded into other languages, debuting in Telugu cinema with Bhale Manchi Roju (2015), Tamil cinema with Maalai Naerathu Mayakkam (2016), and Malayalam cinema with the sports comedy Godha (2017), for which she trained as a wrestler. Her Punjabi film career continued with projects such as Nikka Zaildar 2 (2017), Parahuna (2018), 9 (2019), Nikka Zaildar 3 (2019), and Galwakdi (2020).

In 2021, Gabbi entered streaming media with the crime drama series Grahan, followed by a supporting role in the Hindi sports drama film 83. The following year, she starred in the Netflix series Mai: A Mother's Rage and featured in the anthology series Modern Love Mumbai. In 2023, she appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj's short film Fursat, for which she learned contemporary dance, and starred in the Punjabi crime drama Kali Jotta, which became one of the year's highest-grossing Punjabi films. She also participated in the anthology Modern Love Chennai and the thriller series Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley.

Gabbi achieved significant critical recognition in 2023 for her portrayal of Niloufer, an aspiring actress, in the period drama series Jubilee. Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Filmfare OTT Awards. That same year, she starred as a spy's wife in Vishal Bhardwaj's thriller Khufiya, a role that won her the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Web Original Film along with a nomination for Best Actress.

Continuing into mainstream commercial cinema, Gabbi performed action sequences in the Hindi film Baby John (2024). She subsequently appeared in the fantasy comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf (2025), played a dual role in the horror comedy Bhooth Bangla (2026), and starred in the romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do (2026). In 2026, she also portrayed the character Chandra in the Tamil romantic action film DC.
