Haerin

Kang Hae-rin, known mononymously as Haerin, is a South Korean singer. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group NewJeans, which debuted in July 2022 under the record label ADOR.

Haerin was born on May 15, 2006, in Seoul, South Korea. Growing up with her parents and a younger sister who is three years younger, she initially attended Seoul Boramae Elementary School before transferring to Kwiin Elementary School. She later attended Pyeongchon Middle School before dropping out, subsequently passing the middle school and high school qualification exams to obtain a GED equivalent certificate. Prior to officially joining Source Music in early 2020, she spent time as a trainee at another agency.

Following teasers posted by ADOR on July 1, 2022, Haerin officially debuted with NewJeans on July 22, 2022, through the surprise release of their debut single music video, "Attention." The group launched without any prior promotion or information regarding its individual members. In July 2023, NewJeans released their second extended play, Get Up, on which Haerin earned her first songwriting credit as a lyricist for the track "New Jeans."

In addition to her music activities with NewJeans, Haerin debuted as a special MC for SBS's K-Wave Concert Inkigayo at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea, on June 2, 2024. She hosted the event alongside Yunho of Ateez and Han Yu-jin of Zerobaseone. Following her musical debut, she gained widespread attention in South Korea and internationally for her distinctive facial features, which have been noted for their resemblance to a cat.

Haerin has also established a prominent presence in the fashion industry. On April 26, 2023, luxury brand Dior appointed her as a global ambassador for jewellery, as well as a house ambassador for beauty and fashion. Through this appointment, she became the first K-pop artist to simultaneously represent all three of these categories for the brand.

In her role with Dior, Haerin has attended numerous high-profile events, including a women's boutique event at the Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo, Paris Fashion Week, and the brand's Fall Fashion Show at the Brooklyn Museum on April 16, 2024. In May 2024, she starred in the brand's Denim Oblique Jacquard campaign, which was developed by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Additionally, Haerin has appeared on the covers of major fashion publications, including Vogue Hong Kong, W Korea, and Harper's Bazaar Korea.
