Tao Tsuchiya

Tao Tsuchiya is a Japanese actress who has gained recognition for her work across film, television, and stage productions. She is widely known for portraying Yuzuha Usagi in the Netflix series Alice in Borderland. Her notable film roles include Makimachi Misao in the Rurouni Kenshin movie franchise, Mai Nakahara in The 8-Year Engagement, and Koharu in The Cinderella Addiction.

Born on February 3, 1995, Tsuchiya grew up in a family connected to the entertainment industry. Her elder sister, Honoka, works as a model, and her younger brother, Shimba Tsuchiya, is an actor.

Tsuchiya achieved a major career milestone when she successfully auditioned for the lead role in Mare, a morning drama series broadcast on Japanese public television that debuted in March 2015. She secured the position after competing against over two thousand candidates.

Alongside her film and television projects, Tsuchiya has performed on stage and provided voice work. In 2016, she voiced the character Félicie for the Japanese dub of the animated film Ballerina, contributing a new ending song titled "Félicies" for the release. In 2018, she starred in an international stage adaptation of the manga Pluto, playing dual roles as the cyborgs Uran and Helena across performances in five cities and four countries. She later made plans to join a summer 2020 Tokyo stage production, Neo Vol. 4, organized by Mari Natsuki.

In her personal life, Tsuchiya announced her marriage to Ryota Katayose, a performer from the group Generations from Exile Tribe, on January 1, 2023. The couple had previously co-starred in the 2017 feature My Brother Loves Me Too Much. Along with their marriage announcement, she shared that she was expecting her first child, and the couple publicly confirmed the birth of their child in late August 2023.
