Shenae Grimes

Shenae Sonya Grimes-Beech, previously and commonly credited as Shenae Grimes, is a Canadian actress. She is best known for her starring role as Annie Wilson on the television drama 90210. Prior to that, she held a recurring role on Naturally, Sadie and portrayed Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation for four seasons. She holds dual Canadian-American citizenship after becoming an American citizen in December 2019.

Grimes was born in Toronto, Ontario, on October 24, 1989. She is of one-quarter Italian descent through her grandmother. As part of her high school education, she gained early industry experience by interning at Toronto's FashionTelevision.

Her acting career expanded when she began recurring as Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2004, becoming a series regular in 2006. She left the show and moved from Canada in 2008 after being cast as Annie Wilson in 90210, The CW's spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210. During this period, she appeared in the film Picture This alongside Ashley Tisdale and Lauren Collins, and starred in True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet alongside singer JoJo. She also made a cameo appearance in the horror film Scream 4 in April 2011.

Beyond feature acting, Grimes took part in various fashion and media projects. In May 2011, she completed a six-week internship at Teen Vogue in New York City. She appeared in the 2010 silent fashion short film Unzipped, participated in YouTuber Freddie Wong's video "Gun Size Matters," and featured in the music video for Our Lady Peace's single "All You Did Was Save My Life." In late 2011, she directed a music video for Megan and Liz's song "Are You Happy Now?" in partnership with DoSomething.org to raise awareness about anti-bullying.

While attending the Asia Girls Explosion event in Tokyo following the filming of 90210's third season, Grimes experienced the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. In response, she launched the "Spread the Heart" victim relief campaign. In 2013, she starred in the movie Sugar, playing a runaway girl in Venice, Los Angeles. Later, in 2018, she played homicide detective Jacqueline Cooper on the CTV police drama The Detail, which marked her first time playing an adult character.

In modeling and business, Grimes has appeared on the covers of magazines including Nylon, Vervegirl, Saturday Night Magazine Teen Prom, and Dirrty Glam, and modeled for Teen Vogue and Complex. She appeared in Coffee Crisp commercials and became the brand ambassador for Annabelle Cosmetics in 2014. That same year, she launched a clothing and jewelry brand named "Two Halves" with her husband, British model and musician Josh Beech. The couple married on May 10, 2013, in Ashford, Kent, England, and have two children: a daughter born in September 2018 and a son born in August 2021.
