Joanna Krupa

Joanna Krupa, born April 23, 1979, is a Polish-born American model, actress, and television presenter. She is best known as the host and head judge of Polish Top Model, a role she has held since 2010. She is also widely recognized for her television appearances in the United States, including competing on the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and joining the main cast of the reality television series The Real Housewives of Miami from 2012 to 2013.

Krupa was born in Warsaw, Poland, to her father Zbigniew, an electrical engineer, and her mother Jolanta, a nurse originally from Tarnów. She has a younger sister, Marta, who also works as a model. Raised Roman Catholic, Krupa relocated with her family to the United States at the age of five, settling in Lombard, Illinois. She trained in ballet until she was nine years old, enrolled in modeling school at age 13, and graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1997.

At age 20, Krupa moved to Los Angeles to pursue modeling, working as a secretary to support herself. Although initially turned away by modeling agencies due to her height and weight, her career breakthrough occurred when she appeared on the cover of Maxim in the Netherlands. She subsequently featured on the covers of various international publications, including Playboy, FHM, Ocean Drive, Inside Sport, Stuff, Steppin' Out, and Viva! in Poland, and was included on the Maxim Hot 100 list in 2014.

In addition to modeling, Krupa pursued acting and television opportunities. She appeared in the film Max Havoc: Curse of the Dragon and had guest roles in the television series Las Vegas and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In June 2009, she participated in the reality competition show The Superstars alongside partner Terrell Owens. Later that year, she finished in fourth place on Dancing with the Stars alongside dance partner Derek Hough.

Starting in 2010, Krupa assumed her role hosting Top Model, the Polish spin-off of America's Next Top Model. In 2012, she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Miami for its second season and co-hosted the Dancing with the Stars web series After Party. Her later projects include starring in the 2017 film You Can't Have It, competing on Battle of the Network Stars, publishing the book Psie sprawki, and hosting an episode of SNL Polska in 2018.

Krupa is an active advocate for animal rights and has participated in multiple campaigns for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). She posed for a PETA dog adoption campaign in December 2009 and participated in a body paint campaign boycotting SeaWorld in 2015. In 2012, she organized a protest outside the Dash boutique in Los Angeles, and in 2013, she co-founded the rescue organization Angels For Animal Rescue alongside promoting animal shelters in Poland.

In her personal life, Krupa married nightclub owner Romain Zago in June 2013 in Carlsbad, California, following a 2010 engagement; their divorce was finalized in August 2017. She married Douglas Nunes in August 2018 at the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec, Poland, following an engagement announced earlier that year. The couple welcomed a daughter in November 2019 before their divorce was finalized in October 2023.
