Jeannie Mai

Jeannie Camtu Mai is an American television personality and stylist best known for her work on the makeover show How Do I Look? and the syndicated daytime talk show The Real. As a fashion expert, she has been featured on television programs such as Today, Extra TV, Entertainment Tonight, and Insider. She has also served as a host for E!, a red carpet host for the American Music Awards, and a correspondent and co-host for the Miss Universe pageants.

Mai was born and raised in San Jose, California, to a Chinese Vietnamese father and a Vietnamese mother, and she attended Milpitas High School. During an episode of her YouTube series Hello Hunnay, Mai disclosed that she was sexually abused by a family member starting at the age of nine.

At age 18, Mai launched her career as a makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics while living in San Jose. Working as a trainer, she eventually traveled globally to work with celebrities such as Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys. This led to styling roles for MTV's Total Request Live, KCAL Los Angeles, and Good Day Sacramento. In 2003, she began auditioning with self-written scripts, securing a co-hosting role on the magazine-style show Stir on the International Channel, hosting a music countdown on the California Music Channel, and working as a reporter and producer for The Daily Mixx.

In 2005, Mai landed her first primetime hosting role on USA Network's Character Fantasy before moving to Los Angeles. She hosted segments on E!, Lifetime, TLC, and NBC's Today, and appeared on MTV's Granted and TLC's 10 Years Younger. In 2008, she hosted Miss America Reality Check, starred in Dude, Where's Your Style, and became spokesperson for Never Accept Ordinary. She became host of How Do I Look? on the Style Network in 2009, served as a correspondent on Extra TV, and contributed to Cocoperez.com. She subsequently worked with Miss Universe, The Biggest Loser, The Next Style Star, Fashion Star, and Asia's Next Top Model.

Mai hosted Style Pop in 2013 and served as a co-host on The Real from 2013 to 2022, alongside panel members including Tamera Mowry, Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, Tamar Braxton, and Garcelle Beauvais. In 2018, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host with her co-hosts. Her other projects during this period included hosting Steampunk'd, working on Entertainment Tonight, bringing How Do I Look? to Diva network, playing Lady Luck on The Joker's Wild, and serving as an ambassador for ReimagineMyself.com.

From 2019 to 2022, Mai appeared as a sideline correspondent on Holey Moley. She competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2020 before exiting due to epiglottitis. She was named host of America's Test Kitchen: The Next Generation in 2022, co-hosted the 71st Miss Universe pageant in 2023, was announced as a host for Miss Universe Philippines 2024, and was cast in the Lifetime movie Christmas In The Spotlight.

In her personal life, Mai is a Christian. She was married to Freddy Harteis from 2007 until their divorce in 2018. She married rapper Jeezy in 2021, gave birth to a daughter in 2022, and their divorce was finalized in 2024.
