After high school, Ponder initially attended The King's College in New York City. While living in New York, she applied for a hostess position at ESPN Zone and met Ben Keeperman, an ABC Sports Radio college football researcher and manager. This meeting led to an internship at the network and subsequently a researcher-assistant job with ABC-TV on its college football studio show. She later transferred to Liberty University after receiving an offer from Liberty's Senior Sports Producer Bruce Carey to serve as a sideline reporter for the Liberty Flames sports television network.
Following her graduation in 2009, Ponder worked for Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports as a sideline reporter covering Pac-10 and Big 12 college basketball and football games. On July 7, 2011, ESPN's Longhorn Network announced her hiring as a sideline reporter, making her, Kevin Dunn, and Lowell Galindo the new regional network's first three talent hires. Upon accepting the job, she relocated to Austin, Texas.
Ponder expanded her presence on ESPN over the following years. She replaced Erin Andrews on College GameDay Saturdays at 10 AM ET on ESPN, while also co-hosting the Saturday 9 AM ET edition on ESPNU. Additionally, from August 2012 until 2014, she served as the regular sideline reporter for ESPN's Thursday Night College Football alongside Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack. She also worked as a college football reporter and host, as well as a basketball sideline reporter.
Most recently, Ponder served as the host of Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN. In August 2024, ESPN fired Ponder, ending her tenure as host of the show.
In her personal life, Ponder is a Christian. She married then-Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder on December 17, 2012, in Hudson, Wisconsin, after a brief period of dating. She began using her married name on broadcasts starting with the Capital One Bowl on January 1, 2013. The couple has three children.
