About Federica Masolin
Federica Masolin is an Italian sports journalist and television presenter known for her work with Sky Sport. She has presented the network's coverage of Formula One motor racing as well as various major international sporting events and football programming, including Italy's Serie A and Serie B leagues.
Masolin was born on 7 May 1985 in Milan, Italy. She is the oldest daughter of Flavio, who comes from Latisana, and Franca, whose father originated from Codroipo. Raised alongside a younger sister, she was taken to sports events such as motor races and tennis matches by her father during her youth. She also practiced ballet and earned a degree in modern literature from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
Her journalism career began with minor contributions to local newspapers. At the age of 20, Masolin completed an internship with the editorial staff at the sports television channel Sky Sport. Supported by her parents, this opportunity led to her first broadcast role as a sideline correspondent covering both the Serie A1 Men's League and Serie A1 Women's League in volleyball.
In 2009, Masolin expanded her work into football, serving as a sideline reporter for Sky Sport's coverage of Serie A and Serie B, frequently reporting on matches involving Genoa CFC and UC Sampdoria. She went on to host the broadcaster's presentation of the 2011 Copa América and the Euro Calcio Show, a program centered on foreign football leagues. She also covered major multi-sport events for Sky Sport, including the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, while fronting the Sky Sport24 program starting in 2013.
Following a meeting with a Sky director in Sochi in February 2014, Masolin became the main presenter for Sky Sport's Formula One coverage beginning with the 2014 season. She made her debut at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix and hosted pre- and post-race Paddock Live broadcasts as well as the pre-race social column. During her tenure, she also presented pre-season launches for the Ferrari team and collaborated with pundits Davide Valsecchi and Jacques Villeneuve. She departed the Formula One broadcast team in February 2024 to focus on presenting football programming for Sky Sport.
Over the course of her broadcasting career, Masolin received professional recognition, including being named TV Reporter of the Year in 2017 with 52.4 percent of the vote. In addition to her television work, she serves as an ambassador for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and has participated in charitable events for the organization. She has also been involved with the Run That Track community, which raises funds for children's foundations in Bangladesh, Ghana, and South Africa.
Masolin is fluent in four languages and prefers not to discuss her private life with the media. A fan of the football club Inter, she is known for arriving at the race track four hours before live broadcasts begin to prepare for long broadcast schedules.
