Barbara Karlich

Barbara Karlich, born on January 7, 1969, in Vienna, is an Austrian television presenter, journalist, and publicist. She is best known for hosting her long-running daytime talk show on Austrian broadcasting.

Karlich is the daughter of entrepreneur Viktor Karlich and librarian Katharina Karlich. She grew up in Trausdorf in Burgenland and is a member of the Burgenland-Croat minority. She graduated from high school in Eisenstadt in 1987 before pursuing higher education at the University of Vienna. There, she studied journalism, psychology, and theater studies, ultimately completing her degree in journalism along with a university course in public relations.

Her major career breakthrough occurred in 1999 when director Kathrin Zechner brought her to ORF television. On October 27, 1999, she began hosting her weekday program, The Barbara Karlich Show, on ORF2.

Over the course of her television career, Karlich achieved a significant broadcasting milestone. The Barbara Karlich Show became the only remaining talk show on German-language television, holding the record for the longest-broadcast talk show across Germany, Switzerland, and Austria since its launch in October 1999.

In addition to her primary talk show, Karlich expanded her television projects in the summer of 2001 by presenting the reality documentary series Wie das Leben so plays (How life so plays). The program focused on displaying individuals during special and moving moments in their lives.
