Tamera Mowry

Tamera Darvette Mowry-Housley (née Mowry) is an American actress, television personality, and former singer. She gained fame starring as Tamera Campbell alongside her twin sister Tia Mowry on the sitcom Sister, Sister. Her other notable television and film credits include the Disney Channel films Twitches and Twitches Too, the medical drama Strong Medicine, and the reality series Tia & Tamera. She was also a long-time co-host of the syndicated daytime talk show The Real.

Mowry was born on July 6, 1978, in Gelnhausen, West Germany, to Darlene Renee Mowry and Timothy John Mowry. Her mother served as her children's manager, and her father became a custody officer with the Glendale Police Department after the family moved to California. She has two younger brothers, actor Tahj Mowry and musician Tavior Mowry. Her father has British and Irish ancestry, while her mother is of Afro-Bahamian descent. Mowry grew up in a close-knit, deeply religious family and became a born-again Christian at age eight.

At age 12, Mowry and her sister persuaded their mother to move to California to pursue acting. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1990, where the sisters began appearing in commercials and small roles. In the early 1990s, Mowry and her twin joined the R&B group Voices, whose 1992 single "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" reached No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. They left the group before releasing an album due to a management dispute. Mowry later provided guest vocals on Jerome Wiggins' 2012 track "I Will".

Mowry's breakthrough came with Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999. She played Tamera Campbell, a suburban teenager reunited with her twin sister. She went on to play Dr. Kayla Thornton on Strong Medicine and star in the 2005 movie Twitches. From 2011 to 2013, she starred in the Style Network reality series Tia & Tamera. Between 2021 and 2024, she starred in multiple Hallmark films, including The Santa Stakeout, Girlfriendship, Inventing the Christmas Prince, and Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Murder in G Major.

From 2013 to 2020, Mowry served as a co-host on the daytime talk show The Real alongside Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai. In 2018, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host with her co-hosts. After leaving the show, she joined Home & Family in late 2020. In 2021, she revived her singing on season 5 of The Masked Singer as "Seashell" and was announced as co-host of the Hulu competition series Baker's Dozen.

Beyond television, Mowry and her sister created Need Brand, a product line for mothers offering Milky! and Stretchy!, and co-authored the book series Twintuition. Mowry also signed an overall deal with Crown Media in 2020. She married Fox News correspondent Adam Housley on May 15, 2011, and the couple has two children, Aden and Ariah.
