Im Soo-jung

Im Soo-jung is a South Korean actress and former model born on July 11, 1979. She began her career in 1998 as a cover model for teen magazines before transitioning into acting with a debut role in the teen drama series School 4. She achieved her professional breakthrough in 2003 with Kim Jee-woon's horror film A Tale of Two Sisters, a performance that earned her widespread critical recognition and newcomer awards.

In 2004, Im gained prominent public recognition starring in the KBS2 drama series I'm Sorry, I Love You. During the early stage of her acting career, her youthful appearance and roles solidified an image as an eternal ingenue. Her notable early projects during this period included the character study ...ing, the horse jockey film Lump Sugar in 2006, and Park Chan-wook's surrealist feature I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK in 2006.

Beginning in 2007, Im began taking on more mature roles to expand her acting range. She starred in Hur Jin-ho's romantic melodrama Happiness, followed by Choi Dong-hoon's fantasy blockbuster Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard in 2009, the romantic comedy Finding Mr. Destiny in 2010, and Lee Yoon-ki's minimalist indie film Come Rain, Come Shine. For her leading performance in the 2012 film All About My Wife, she won the Best Actress award at both the 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Women in Film Korea Awards.

In addition to mainstream features, Im participated in various artistic and short film projects. She starred alongside Lee Jung-jae in the short film El Fin del Mundo ("The End of the World"), which screened at the dOCUMENTA contemporary art exhibition. She also acted opposite Thai actor Sorapong Chatree in the short film Phuket. Her later film projects included the 2015 releases Perfect Proposal and Time Renegades, as well as Kim Jong-kwan's indie film The Table, which premiered at the 21st Busan International Film Festival.

Im returned to television in 2017 with the drama series Chicago Typewriter, marking her first small-screen appearance in thirteen years. That same year, she served as a cultural ambassador for the UK-Korea Creative Futures mutual exchange and starred in the feature film Mothers. She subsequently starred in the television series Search: WWW in 2019, the film Single in Seoul in 2020, and the tvN drama series Melancholia in 2021.

Over the course of her career, Im has been represented by management agencies including SidusHQ, KeyEast, YNK Entertainment, and King Kong by Starship, before signing with MYM Entertainment in November 2024. In her personal life, Im stated in a 2021 interview that she had adopted a vegan lifestyle and had become an active advocate for animal welfare, animal rights, and the environment.
