Krystal Jung

Chrystal Soo Jung, known professionally as Krystal Jung, is an American and South Korean singer and actress. She debuted in 2009 as a vocalist for the South Korean girl group f(x) and later joined the project group SM the Ballad. Beside her musical work, she has built an extensive acting career across South Korean television series and feature films, earning recognition for roles in dramas such as The Heirs, My Lovely Girl, Prison Playbook, Search, and Crazy Love, as well as the film Cobweb.

Jung was born in San Francisco, California, where her family settled from South Korea in the 1980s, holding dual American and South Korean citizenship. During a family trip to South Korea in 2000, she and her sister Jessica Jung were scouted by SM Entertainment. After appearing in television commercials starting in 2002, she joined the agency in 2006 for dance training. She attended Korea Kent Foreign School, graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2013 with an achievement award, and studied theater at Sungkyunkwan University.

Jung's musical activities began with f(x)'s debut in September 2009. Over the years, she contributed to group releases, recorded soundtrack singles such as "Hard but Easy" and "All of a Sudden," and performed with SM the Ballad. In October 2020, she left SM Entertainment and signed with H& Entertainment, later joining Beasts & Natives (BANA) in 2024. That year, she released a cover of "I'm Coming Back," and in 2025, she announced her solo single "Solitary" alongside her album production series Charging Crystals.

Jung made her acting debut in the 2010 sitcom More Charming by the Day, winning the Newcomer Comedy Award at the 2010 MBC Entertainment Awards. She gained further recognition in the 2013 series The Heirs and secured her first leading drama role in My Lovely Girl (2014), which earned her the Most Popular Actress award at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Her television career continued with roles in Bride of the Water God, Prison Playbook, Player, Search, Police University, and Crazy Love, receiving a Popularity Award at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards.

In film, Jung debuted in the independent romance More Than Family before starring in the commercial release Sweet & Sour. In 2023, she starred in the period black comedy Cobweb, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won her Best New Actress at the 33rd Buil Film Awards and Best Supporting Actress at the Chunsa Film Art Awards. Her recent projects include appearances in The Player 2: Master of Swindlers, Way Back Love, and upcoming roles in Audition 109 and Mad Concrete Dreams.

Beyond entertainment, Jung has served as a brand ambassador and model for companies such as Keds, Tod's, Audi, Ralph Lauren, Charles & Keith, Lancôme, Pomellato, and SW19. She was also named ambassador for French Film Week in 2025 and has engaged in charitable initiatives, including donating to the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation and performing for disaster relief.
