Bryan Greenberg is an American actor born on May 24, 1978. Greenberg was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to psychologist parents Denise and Carl Greenberg. Raised in Conservative Judaism, he attended Beth El Synagogue, participated in Jewish youth organizations, attended summer camps, and visited Israel. His interest in performing began at age seven when he starred as the lead in the Omaha Ballet production of The Nutcracker, subsequently touring for two months and joining a local children's theater group. At age 12, his family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where he booked his first major role in a national commercial for Cookie Crisp cereal. He graduated from Parkway Central High School in 1996 before moving to New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from New York University in 2000.
While studying at New York University, Greenberg worked as a waiter, bartender, caterer, and assistant to a mortgage broker. He took on theatrical roles such as Romeo in an institutional production of Romeo and Juliet and performed with the Experimental Theater Workshop, the Atlantic Theater Company, and the Amsterdam Experimental Workshop. In 1997, he made his television screen debut on Law & Order, followed by his feature film debut in A Civil Action. After relocating to California, he landed his first major film role as Matty Matthews in The Perfect Score and appeared in the HBO series Unscripted. He achieved his first starring role in a feature film playing David Bloomberg in the 2005 film Prime alongside Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman.
Greenberg expanded his screen career with major roles on television dramas such as October Road and How to Make It in America. His movie work during this period included appearances in Nobel Son, Bride Wars, and the independent drama The Good Guy. He later co-starred in the comedy films The Kitchen and The Normals, worked on an untitled Lance Armstrong biographical film, and co-starred with his wife Jamie Chung in Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong. In 2024, Greenberg was cast in the television drama Suits LA.
Outside of acting, Greenberg is a musician who released his debut album, Waiting for Now, in 2007 and his second album, We Don't Have Forever, in 2011. He has toured alongside acts such as Gavin DeGraw and included several of his own tracks on the soundtracks of his film and television projects. In his personal life, Greenberg began dating actress Jamie Chung in 2012. The couple married in Santa Barbara, California, in October 2015 and welcomed twin sons via surrogacy in October 2021. In January 2025, their residence in Los Angeles was destroyed in a wildfire.
