Arnaud Binard

Arnaud Binard is a French actor and producer born on January 18, 1971, in Bordeaux, France. He is widely recognized for his extensive screen career, particularly his performances in various romantic and detective television series broadcast across the French-speaking world. His work encompasses a broad range of television projects as well as several feature films and international television appearances.

Binard spent his youth in the coastal resort community of Seignosse-le-Penon. His parents worked as physical education instructors who managed the local public seawater swimming pools. During his teenage years, he developed a deep passion for surfing. Although his father initially discouraged him from taking up the sport, Binard was eventually able to practice it before his family relocated inland to Lot-et-Garonne, far from the ocean.

His initial entry into dramatic arts occurred while attending high school in Marmande. At fourteen years old, Binard volunteered for a school theater group created by a literature teacher aiming to help him manage his shyness. He continued pursuing performance art alongside his academic studies in Bordeaux, where he trained to become a physical education teacher like his parents. During this period, he expanded his experience across various genres, including classical repertoire, street performance, and theatrical improvisation. To further refine his technique, Binard moved to Paris in 1996 to attend the Jean Darnel course at the Théâtre de l'Atelier.

Binard built a prominent television career in France, participating in popular hit shows. His notable television credits include early roles in Sous Le Soleil from 1998 to 1999, France 2's Groupe Flag from 2002 to 2004, and TF1's Alice Nevers: The judge is a woman between 2002 and 2007. Later, he starred in France 2 productions such as Empreintes criminelles in 2011 and Chérif from 2015 to 2017. Starting in 2016, he portrayed Captain Fontaine in France 3's series Agathe Koltès through 2019. Additional television credits include Le Dernier Seigneur des Balkans and Le Ciel sur la tête.

In feature films, Binard appeared in Gabriel Axel's Leïla in 2001, the 2004 erotic drama Grande École—which was adapted from Jean-Marie Besset's play The Best of Schools—and Jean-Claude Brisseau's 2009 film À l'aventure, as well as ID:A.

Outside French television and cinema, Binard gained visibility in English-language productions. He portrayed Brooklyn Cott in the second season of Hulu's series Guidestones in 2014, appeared in the ABC comedy Modern Family, and played the character Laurent in Emily in Paris. Additionally, in November 2014, Binard expanded his professional activity behind the camera by establishing Atelier K-plan, a broadcasting production company located in Bordeaux.
