Aaron Kwok

Aaron Kwok Fu-shing is a Hong Kong actor, singer, and dancer who gained widespread prominence as one of Hong Kong's "Four Heavenly Kings." Active in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, he has built a multifaceted career across music, television, and film. Over his musical career, Kwok has released more than 30 studio albums in both Cantonese and Mandarin, primarily focused on the dance-pop genre while incorporating elements of rock, R&B, soul, electronica, and traditional Chinese music.

Born on 26 October 1965, Kwok attended St John's Co-education College in Hong Kong. After completing secondary school, he worked as a junior employee at King Fook Gold & Jewellery Co. Ltd. His father, who owned a small retail gold shop, intended for Kwok to gain business experience to eventually take over the family enterprise. Kwok was only permitted to enter the entertainment industry because one of his brothers assumed responsibility for the family business instead. In 1984, he was dismissed from his jewelry job due to prolonged sick leave after injuring his foot muscles while attempting the splits at a party. In 1991, his older brother Kwok Fu-kun was tragically shot and killed outside the Sunbeam Theatre while pursuing armed robbers who had raided his jewelry store.

Following his dismissal from the jewelry company at age 19, Kwok enrolled in a TVB dancer training programme in 1984 despite having no formal dance instruction. He subsequently performed in music videos and variety broadcasts. In 1985, his performance in a song and dance segment at the Miss Bodybuilding competition caught the attention of TVB talent manager Florence Fung, who introduced him to TVB's actor training programme in 1987. Kwok's major breakthrough occurred in 1990 when he starred in a Taiwanese TV commercial for the Honda DJ-1RR motorcycle. The commercial brought him instant fame in Taiwan and launched his Mandopop career with three albums, including the hit track "Loving You Forever."

Kwok returned to Hong Kong in 1991 to focus on Cantopop, establishing himself as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings" and securing honors at the 1991 Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards and RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. Renowned for introducing a fast-dancing trend influenced by Michael Jackson, Kwok earned a top ten Hong Kong dance award and became known for his elaborate stage shows. In 1999, he collaborated with Janet Jackson on the Pepsi promotional single "Ask for More." In 2007 and 2008, he held major concerts featuring a massive revolving stage that set a Guinness World Record.

Kwok's acting career began with TVB television series such as Genghis Khan and Twilight of a Nation, followed by roles in dramas like Wars of Bribery. He transitioned to cinema with a praised performance in Saviour of the Soul (1991), which earned him a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He later starred in feature films including The Storm Riders (1998) and China Strike Force (2000). Kwok earned back-to-back Best Leading Actor honors at Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards for Divergence in 2005 and After This Our Exile in 2006.

His film career continued with acclaim in the AIDS-themed drama Love for Life (2010), the hit thrillers Cold War (2012) and its 2016 sequel, and Project Gutenberg (2018). For his starring role in the 2015 crime thriller Port of Call, Kwok won the Best Actor trophy at the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2016.

Beyond his creative work, Kwok is a fashion icon who popularized a center-split hairstyle in the 1990s and became a brand ambassador for HSBC Jade in 2020. An avid supercar collector, motor racing enthusiast, and race-horse owner with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Kwok also enjoys Chinese hotpot. In 2017, he married model Moka Fang, with whom he has three daughters born in 2017, 2019, and 2025.
