Rebecca Ferguson

Rebecca Louisa Ferguson Sundström is a Swedish actress recognized for her work across film and television. Born on October 19, 1983, in Stockholm, she has built an international career spanning television series, historical dramas, high-concept science fiction, and action blockbusters.

Raised in the Vasastan district of Stockholm by her English mother and Swedish father, Ferguson grew up bilingual in English and Swedish. She attended an English-medium school and graduated from Adolf Fredrik's Music School in 1999. From an early age, she practiced several styles of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, street funk, and tango, later teaching Argentine tango in Sweden. During her youth, a modeling agency listed her in a portfolio for ordinary-looking talent, which led to her being discovered by a casting agency at age fifteen. Before committing fully to acting, she worked various jobs, including positions at a daycare center, a restaurant, retail stores, and hotel cleaning.

Ferguson made her screen debut in 1999 on the Swedish soap opera Nya tider, followed by appearances in the soap Ocean Ave. and the 2004 horror feature Drowning Ghost. After being spotted at a local market by a director, she starred in A One-way Trip to Antibes (2011), earning a Rising Star nomination at the Stockholm International Film Festival. Her global breakthrough arrived when she portrayed Elizabeth Woodville in the 2013 historical drama series The White Queen, a role that received critical acclaim and earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination.

Following her Hollywood debut in Hercules (2014), Ferguson achieved wider recognition playing MI6 agent Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015). She reprised the role in Fallout (2018) and Dead Reckoning (2023). She gained further acclaim playing Lady Jessica in the science fiction epics Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), a performance that earned her a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, with a third installment planned for 2026.

Her varied filmography includes the Cold War drama Despite the Falling Snow (2016), which won her a Best Actress award at the Prague Independent Film Festival, as well as Florence Foster Jenkins (2016), The Girl on the Train (2016), Life (2017), The Snowman (2017), and the musical The Greatest Showman (2017). On television, Ferguson stars in and executive produces the Apple TV+ sci-fi series Silo (2023–2026), earning Saturn and Satellite Award nominations. Her wider achievements include a Saturn Award, two Critics' Choice Super Awards, and nominations for a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice Movie Award. Her upcoming projects include A House of Dynamite (2025) and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (2026). She resides in Richmond, London, with her husband Rory St. Clair Gainer and their daughter, while maintaining close connections to Sweden, where her son resides.
