Ryoma Takeuchi

Ryoma Takeuchi, born Ryo Takeuchi on April 26, 1993, is a Japanese actor, model, and television personality. Affiliated with the talent management agency Horipro, he has established a prominent career in television and film. He is widely recognized for playing the main protagonist Shinnosuke Tomari in the series Kamen Rider Drive. His notable screen work also includes portraying Suzuki Shinya in the feature film 10Dance and playing Ebihara Katsuo in the 2025 drama series Jaa, Anta Ga Tsukutte Miro Yo.

Takeuchi grew up as the oldest of three siblings, with one younger sister and one younger brother. His parents gave him the birth name Ryo because they liked how it sounded, selecting a relatively rare kanji character for its written form. He began playing soccer at five years old and was a member of the Tokyo Verdy youth organization during his early years. Although he earned admission to college on a sports recommendation for soccer, he ultimately chose not to pursue a professional athletic path. He later attended Rissho University, where he studied Global Environmental Sciences.

His entry into entertainment occurred in April 2013 after winning the Mina Kare Grand Prix audition, a contest that drew 2,457 entrants. Following this victory, he appeared in the female publication Mina and embarked on a professional acting and modeling career. Takeuchi secured his main breakthrough shortly after, starring as the central character Shinnosuke Tomari, also known as Kamen Rider Drive, in the tokusatsu franchise from 2014 to 2015.

Takeuchi experienced a major career surge in 2017 with consecutive roles across several major television networks. He played Jun'ichiro Shimatani in the NHK morning drama Hiyokko, portrayed Hajime Mugino in NTV's Kahogo no Kahoko, and appeared as Hiroto Mogi in the TBS Sunday drama Rikuoh. In January 2020, he starred in the Sunday Theatre series Ship of Theseus, becoming the youngest actor to lead a production in that time slot at 26 years of age.

In April 2022, Takeuchi was cast as Arata Miyabe in TV Asahi's Roppongi Class, a drama adapted from the South Korean series Itaewon Class. Outside of acting, he was selected as one of three recipients of the 2016 Best Stylish Award on November 21, 2016. In his personal life, media attention surrounded his relationship with Ayaka Miyoshi, with reports in May 2020 indicating that they were cohabitating. On October 27, 2024, the couple reportedly separated after four years together to prioritize their respective professional careers.
