Phoenix Raei

Phoenix Raei is an Australian actor, director, and filmmaker who has appeared in numerous television series and feature films. He gained prominent industry recognition for his main roles in Australian television dramas and international streaming productions.

Raei was born in Shiraz, Iran, on October 28, 1990, before relocating with his family to Perth, Australia. Although he possessed a keen interest in acting during his youth, he initially chose to pursue law studies in higher education due to external expectations.

His screen career began in 2014 with an appearance in a short film. Adopting the professional name Nima Raei, he wrote and directed the 2017 film Seven Storeys Down. During the same period, he made his television debut on the soccer series Mustangs FC, appeared in his first major film role in Australia Day, and created the miniseries Murder. After these projects, he moved to Melbourne.

Raei expanded his television presence in 2018 by appearing in the political thriller series Romper Stomper. From 2018 to 2019, he starred as a core cast member in both seasons of the Perth-set television drama The Heights. He subsequently appeared in the prison drama Wentworth in 2019 and featured in the 2020 immigration detention series Stateless, created by Cate Blanchett.

His profile grew internationally through major roles in global streaming series. In 2021, Raei co-starred in the Netflix miniseries Clickbait as missing persons detective Roshan Amiri alongside Zoe Kazan, Betty Gabriel, and Adrian Grenier. He later played a pivotal role in the Netflix series The Night Agent and appeared in the 2022 American action-thriller film Black Site.

In addition to his acting work, Raei has expanded into production and writing, developing a self-authored, directed, and produced film titled Schnook. His subsequent screen projects include joining the third season of the thriller series Tehran in 2023 and being cast in the third season of the drama series The Twelve in 2024.

Raei is engaged to Australian actress Kate Lister, with whom he has two daughters. The couple frequently collaborates professionally and jointly operates the production company Little Fish Films.
