Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Hindi and Telugu cinema. She has received several accolades throughout her career, including a Filmfare Award South, a Filmfare OTT Award, three SIIMA Awards, and an ITA Award.

Thakur was born on 1 August 1992 into a Marathi-speaking family in Dhule, Maharashtra. She attended St. Joseph's Convent School in Jalgaon and Vasant Vihar High School near Mumbai. While studying at KC College, she left before graduating to pursue a career in television.

She began her acting career on television, starring as Gauri Bhosle in the series Mujhse Kuchh Kehti...Yeh Khamoshiyaan from 2012 to 2013, followed by an episodic role in Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek – Arjun. From 2014 to 2016, she played Bulbul Arora Khanna in Zee TV's soap opera Kumkum Bhagya, a role that earned her the ITA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. During her television career, Thakur also participated as a contestant on Box Cricket League 1 and Nach Baliye 7, appeared in a special episode of Saubhagyalakshmi, made a guest appearance in Tuyul & Mbak Yul Reborn, and featured in the Indonesian serial Nadin.

Thakur made her film debut in Marathi cinema in 2014 with Hello Nandan, followed by Vitti Dandu and Surajya. Her Hindi film debut came with the international feature Love Sonia (2018), playing a village girl involved in global human trafficking. In 2019, she starred in the box-office successes Super 30 and Batla House. Over the following years, she expanded her filmography with roles in the horror anthology Ghost Stories (2020), the sports drama Toofaan (2021), the action thriller Dhamaka (2021), and the sports drama Jersey (2022).

Thakur achieved further popularity through her work in Telugu films, debuting in the period romantic drama Sita Ramam (2022). Her performance in the box-office success won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. She followed this with another successful Telugu romantic drama, Hi Nanna (2023), which earned her the Best Actress Critics – Telugu award at the South Indian International Movie Awards. Her 2023 projects also included the Hindi films Gumraah, Aankh Micholi, Lust Stories 2, and Pippa.

Her subsequent film projects include the Telugu film The Family Star (2024), a cameo in Kalki 2898 AD (2024), the comedy Son of Sardaar 2 (2025), the romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein (2026), and the bilingual feature Dacoit: A Love Story (2026). Outside of film acting, Thakur has appeared in music videos such as Gallan Goriya, Bad Boy x Bad Girl, and Aise Na Chhoro, and she serves as a celebrity endorser for brands including Lakme and Dulux.
