Tamannaah Bhatia

Tamanna Santosh Bhatia, professionally known as Tamannaah Bhatia, is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. Having appeared in 89 films, she is recognized as a leading actress in South Indian cinema. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards, including three Santosham Film Awards, two SIIMA Awards, and the Kalaimamani Award.

Bhatia was born on 21 December 1989 in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, to parents Santosh and Rajni Bhatia. She has an elder brother named Anand Bhatia and is of Sindhi Hindu origin. She attended Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Mumbai. At age 13, she began learning acting and joined Prithvi Theatre for a year, where she participated in stage performances. She initially used her given name as her stage name, later modifying it to Tamannaah for numerological reasons before eventually adopting Tamannaah Bhatia.

She made her acting debut in the 2005 Hindi film Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, followed by her Telugu debut in Sree in 2005 and her Tamil debut in Kedi in 2006. Bhatia gained wider recognition with her college student roles in Happy Days and Kalloori in 2007, establishing herself in Telugu and Tamil cinema. Between 2008 and 2014, she starred in commercially successful films including Ayan, Paiyaa, Siruthai, 100% Love, Racha, Tadakha, and Veeram. Her performance in 100% Love earned her a CineMAA Award and a Santosham Award, while Tadakha earned her the SIIMA Critics Award for Best Actress – Telugu.

A significant career turning point occurred in 2015 when she portrayed the warrior Avanthika in Baahubali: The Beginning, one of the highest-grossing Telugu films. She reprised her role in 2017's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which became one of the highest-grossing Indian films. During this period, she also achieved success with projects such as Bengal Tiger, Dharma Durai, Devi, F2: Fun and Frustration, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, earning honors including an Asiavision Award, an Asianet Film Award, and a second Santosham Best Actress Award.

From 2020 to 2024, Bhatia expanded into television and streaming alongside theatrical films. She hosted MasterChef India – Telugu and starred in series such as 11th Hour, November Story, Jee Karda, Lust Stories 2, and Aakhri Sach, winning Best Actress - Series at the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest. Her notable film releases from this era included Seetimaarr, F3: Fun and Frustration, Jailer, Aranmanai 4, Maestro, Babli Bouncer, Plan A Plan B, and Sikandar Ka Muqaddar.

In 2025, Bhatia starred in the Telugu supernatural thriller Odela 2, appeared in the series Do You Wanna Partner, and performed in the music video Nasha for Raid 2. Her announced future projects include reprising her role as Avanthika in Baahubali: The Epic, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, as well as starring roles in the Hindi films O' Romeo, Ranger, IPS Maria, and The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest.
