Kim Se-jeong

Kim Se-jeong is a South Korean singer and actress. She gained early recognition after placing second on the Mnet survival competition show Produce 101 in 2016, becoming a member of the project girl group I.O.I. She was also a member of Jellyfish Entertainment's girl group Gugudan from 2016 until its disbandment in 2020. Kim is active as a solo music artist and actress, starring in television series such as School 2017, The Uncanny Counter, Business Proposal, and Moon River.

Kim was born on August 28, 1996, in Gimje, North Jeolla Province, South Korea. She grew up in Anyang, Gyeonggi, raised by her mother alongside her older brother following her parents' separation. During her school years, she participated in track and field competitions and joined her high school's theatre club. After passing a competitive audition for Jellyfish Entertainment, she became a trainee and later studied practical music at Hanyang Women's University.

Before her official debut, Kim appeared on the competition show K-pop Star 2 in 2012. In 2016, she represented Jellyfish Entertainment on Produce 101, finishing in second place and debuting with I.O.I in May 2016. The group was active until January 2017. In June 2016, Kim also debuted as a member of Gugudan, and later participated in its sub-unit Gugudan SeMiNa in 2018.

Kim launched her solo music career in November 2016 with the single "Flower Way," which earned her a music program trophy. She released her first self-written and composed extended play, Plant, in March 2020, followed by her second EP, I'm, in 2021 and her first studio album, Door, in September 2023. Beyond recording music, she has contributed to several soundtrack singles, completed a solo concert tour in 2023, and performed on stage in musical theater productions including Return: The Promise of the Day and Red Book, as well as the play Temple.

Kim made her major acting debut in 2017 as the lead in the KBS2 teen drama School 2017, winning the Best New Actress award at the 31st KBS Drama Awards. She followed this with roles in the mystery romantic-comedy drama I Wanna Hear Your Song (2019) and OCN's series The Uncanny Counter (2020–2023). In 2022, she starred in the romantic comedy Business Proposal, followed by Today's Webtoon. Her subsequent television projects include Brewing Love (2024) and the historical fantasy series Moon River (2025), for which she won a Top Excellence Award at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards.

Throughout her career, Kim has hosted television programs, variety shows, and award ceremonies, including Talents for Sale, Busted!, and the 2021 MBC Entertainment Awards. She has worked extensively as an advertising model and brand ambassador for international and Korean brands, including Longchamp, PlayStation, Crocs, Coca-Cola, and Good Day Soju. In March 2026, Kim left Jellyfish Entertainment after ten years and signed with BH Entertainment.
