Jeon Somi

Ennik Somi Douma, known professionally as Jeon Somi, is a South Korean and Canadian singer. Born in Canada to a South Korean mother and a Dutch-Canadian father, she moved to South Korea as an infant. Jeon first rose to prominence in South Korea as the first-place winner of the reality survival show Produce 101 and as a member of the project girl group I.O.I. Following the group's disbandment, she signed with The Black Label, an independent subsidiary of YG Entertainment, and made her official debut as a solo artist in 2019.

Jeon was born on March 9, 2001, in Windsor, Ontario, and moved to Seoul, South Korea, at six months old. She attended Seoul Midong Elementary School and Cheongdam Middle School before graduating from Hanlim Multi Art School in February 2020, where she majored in Practical Music and Vocal. Inspired by music videos as a child, she developed an interest in singing and Korean pop music. Outside of her music studies, she practiced Taekwondo for over ten years, eventually qualifying and certifying as a fourth-degree black belt holder.

Beginning in elementary school, Jeon auditioned for entertainment companies and entered JYP Entertainment's trainee program in 2014. After competing in the 2015 survival show Sixteen, she competed on Produce 101 in 2016, securing first place and debuting with I.O.I in May 2016. She participated in group releases including the extended play Chrysalis and the single "Whatta Man". Following I.O.I's disbandment in early 2017, Jeon expanded her television presence by joining the cast of Sister's Slam Dunk 2, debuting in the project group Unnies, and contributing to Idol Drama Operation Team as a scriptwriter and member of the project group Girls Next Door.

In August 2018, Jeon terminated her contract with JYP Entertainment and subsequently signed with The Black Label. She launched her solo career on June 13, 2019, with the release of the single "Birthday" alongside her self-composed track "Outta My Head". In July 2020, she partnered with Interscope Records and Universal Music Group for international representation and released the single "What You Waiting For", securing her first solo music show win. In 2021, she released the single "Dumb Dumb" followed by her debut full-length studio album, XOXO, in October.

Jeon continued her musical activities with the August 2023 release of her extended play Game Plan, featuring the lead single "Fast Forward". Later that year, she released the collaborative holiday single "Ex-Mas" with rapper Big Naughty, followed by the single "Ice Cream" in August 2024. In July 2025, she released the single "Extra" and announced her second extended play, Chaotic and Confused. Throughout her career, she has also hosted television broadcasts, appeared in web and reality series, and represented multicultural youth at official state ceremonies.
