Keyla Monterroso Mejia

Keyla Monterroso Mejia is an American actress and comedian. She is known for her television performances in comedy series such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, Abbott Elementary, and The Studio. Throughout her acting career, she has appeared in both television programs and feature film projects.

Mejia was born on February 26, 1998, in Hawthorne, California, located in Los Angeles County. Her parents were from Guatemala and Mexico. During her youth, she grew up in the Inland Empire region of California.

She made her professional acting debut playing the character Val in Growing Fangs, a 2021 short film directed by Ann Marie Pace. The short film was featured as part of Launchpad, an anthology series released on Disney+.

Later in 2021, Mejia made her television debut with a guest-starring role in season 11 of the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. In the show, she portrayed Maria Sofia Estrada, a short order cook who becomes a terrible actress. Although she was originally cast to appear in a single episode, her role expanded to six of the ten episodes in the season. She returned as a guest star in season 12, where her character had transitioned into a popular actress. Her involvement with the series lasted from 2021 to 2024.

In 2021, Mejia also guest starred in the final episode of the Netflix comedy-drama series On My Block. Following this appearance, it was announced that she would star in the show's spin-off series, Freeridge, alongside cast members Bryana Salaz, Ciara Riley Wilson, and Tenzing Norgay Trainor. The spin-off series premiered in 2023 and ran for one season.

Mejia secured additional ongoing television roles across major platforms. She appeared in the ABC comedy series Abbott Elementary from 2022 to 2026. Beginning in 2025, she joined the cast of the Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio.

In addition to her work in television, Mejia has built a film record. She appeared in the 2022 film The Estate and the 2024 film Suncoast. In 2025, she appeared in the feature films One of Them Days and You're Cordially Invited. In January 2026, Deadline reported that Mejia will join the cast for Season 2 of the series Bad Monkey.
