Vinny Thomas

Vinny Thomas is an American actor, comedian, and writer who gained widespread recognition through his viral comedic videos shared on platforms such as Twitter and TikTok. Alongside his online content, he has expanded his career into television and film, earning praise from major entertainment publications for his comedic work.

Raised in Denver, Colorado, Thomas originally aspired to work as a zoologist throughout much of his youth. His focus shifted toward performance after joining the school improv troupe Spontaneous Combustion. He went on to pursue formal improv training at local venues, including the Bovine Metropolis Theater and Rise Comedy, and later studied broadcast journalism in college. In 2018, Thomas relocated to Chicago to advance his career in comedy, completing training at The Second City and performing with the house improv team Twisty.

Thomas achieved a broader public breakthrough in 2020 when his self-produced internet videos began attracting massive online audiences. His sketches frequently combine his interest in wildlife with comedic character studies, featuring him as various animals and heightened personas, such as a warthog, a fly, a Southern Kentucky Derby attendee, and an alien reviewing Earth's membership in a fictional galactic organization. Other popular skits addressed topical news, including a spoof of a Mars Inc. representative discussing M&M character redesigns and a portrayal of an asexually reproducing condor. A video featuring his impersonation of a pigeon at a Pride parade led Vanity Fair to include him on their list of top performances for 2021.

Beyond digital media, Thomas has contributed guest writing to the radio show Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me! since 2021. He secured his debut recurring television acting role on the Apple TV+ series Platonic, performing alongside Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. His live performance achievements also include being selected for the 2023 CBS Showcase.

His acting resume includes playing the live-action version of Jai Kell in the 2023 miniseries Ahsoka, taking over a role previously voiced in animated form by Dante Basco. He made his feature film debut in the 2025 release You're Cordially Invited and was announced as a cast member for the second season of the Dropout panel show Smartypants. Over the course of his career, Thomas has earned industry honors, including selection for the Just for Laughs New Faces showcase in 2021, recognition from The Hollywood Reporter as a top social media comic, and inclusions on comedy lists by USA Today and Vulture.
