Freya Allan

Freya Allan is an English actress best known for her starring role as Princess Cirilla of Cintra in the Netflix fantasy drama series The Witcher. She is also recognized for playing the character Mae in the 2024 action film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Her work in television and film includes appearances in the AMC series Into the Badlands and the 2021 film Gunpowder Milkshake.

Allan was born on 6 September 2001 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Her parents separated when she was one year old, leading her to live with her mother in Australia and the French Pyrenees, where she attended a French-language school before returning to Oxford. She attended Headington School in Oxford and currently lives in London. She has a younger half-brother and half-sister.

During her school years, Allan studied drama and ballet, joining a touring production of Rapunzel at age eleven. Early in her acting career, she starred in two short films produced by the National Film and Television School, titled Bluebird and The Christmas Tree. She later played the role of Linda in the short film Captain Fierce, produced by the Bournemouth Film School.

In 2019, Allan played a minor role in the first episode of the BBC drama The War of the Worlds and appeared on the cover of Schön! magazine's 10th anniversary issue. That same year, she began starring as Princess Ciri in Netflix's The Witcher alongside Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra. Originally cast in a one-off role, she was recast as Ciri and lived in Budapest, Hungary for eight months to film the first series. She returned for the second series released in 2021, and trained in sword fighting for the third season, which began in June 2023.

In addition to her television work, Allan played the lead role in the 2021 horror film Baghead, directed by Alberto Corredor. In 2023, she filmed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in Australia, performing some of her own stunts for her role as Mae. Released on 10 May 2024, the film grossed $397 million worldwide.

Allan's performance in The Witcher earned her nominations for the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in both 2021 and 2024. Her upcoming projects include director Janell Shirtcliff's horror film Triton, which finished filming in Greece in early 2024, and she was reported in 2025 to be attached to play Marianne Faithfull in a biographical film.
