Steven R. McQueen

Steven Chadwick McQueen, known professionally as Steven R. McQueen, is an American actor and model. He is best known for his portrayal of Jeremy Gilbert in the CW supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off Legacies. McQueen is also recognized for his role as firefighter candidate Jimmy Borrelli in the NBC drama series Chicago Fire and its companion series Chicago P.D., both part of the One Chicago franchise.

McQueen was born to Stacey Toten, a humanitarian and former actress, and Chad McQueen, a race car driver and former actor. His paternal grandparents are actor Steve McQueen and Filipino actress Neile Adams. Following his mother's remarriage to Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Luc Robitaille, McQueen adopted the professional middle initial "R" in reference to his stepfather's surname. McQueen is the eldest of four children, with three half-siblings. During his mid-teens, he lived in Detroit and was home-schooled until graduation. Watching his grandfather's films inspired him to pursue an acting career, leading him to relocate to Los Angeles to attend acting classes.

McQueen made his television debut in September 2005 at age 17 in an episode of the science fiction series Threshold. He subsequently made guest appearances on series including Numb3rs, Without a Trace, and CSI: Miami. Between 2005 and 2006, he played recurring character Kyle Hunter in seven episodes of Everwood. After co-starring in the 2006 short film Club Soda, McQueen made his feature film debut as Derek Beaugard in the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie Minutemen.

In 2009, McQueen was cast in his breakthrough role as Jeremy Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries, starring as a main cast member for the first six seasons through 2015. His performance earned him a nomination for Choice TV Male Scene Stealer at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. McQueen reprised his role in the series finale in 2017 and as a special guest star in Legacies in 2018. During this period, he also starred in the 2010 horror film Piranha 3D. Beyond acting, McQueen worked as a fashion model alongside other actors for Abercrombie & Fitch's Spring 2014 "The Making of a Star" campaign.

In 2015, McQueen joined the fourth season of Chicago Fire as Jimmy Borrelli, advancing from a recurring cast member to the main cast before his character exited in October 2016. He also appeared in crossover episodes of Chicago P.D. in 2016. His later acting work includes the 2018 short film The Take Off, the Hallmark Original Movie Home by Spring, an episode of Netflix's anthology documentary series Medal of Honor playing Joseph Vittori, and the 2020 INSP Western television film The Warrant.

In his personal life, McQueen was engaged to model Alexandra Silva in 2018 before ending the engagement later that year. Since 2014, he has supported the Thirst Project, attending its annual fundraising galas and traveling to Eswatini to assist in building water installations. He also supports the nonprofit organization TECHO and Echoes of Hope, an organization founded by his parents to assist at-risk and foster youth.
