Sam Asghari

Hesam "Sam" Asghari is an Iranian-American model and actor. He is known for his television appearances on shows such as Black Monday, Hacks, The Family Business, and The Traitors, as well as his roles in several music videos. Outside of his entertainment career, he gained public attention for his marriage to singer Britney Spears from 2022 to 2024.

Asghari was born in Tehran, Iran, on March 3, 1994, as the youngest of four children. He began practicing gymnastics at four years old and moved to the United States at age 13 without knowing English. He learned the language primarily by watching American television series and films. During high school, he shortened his name to Sam, participated in football, and took theater classes, performing in productions of Hamlet and Macbeth. He later attended Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, before leaving college while working at Best Buy. He became a United States citizen in 2012.

At age 21, Asghari began modeling after being introduced to the industry by his sister Fay. His first runway show was in Palm Springs, California, for designer Michael Costello. He subsequently modeled for various magazines, including spreads in Vulkan, Men's Health, Iron Man, and GQ. In 2019, he received a Daytime Beauty Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fitness. Since 2020, he has owned Asghari Fitness, a website offering personalized training programs.

Asghari made his film debut in 2018 with a cameo appearance in the parody spoof Unbelievable!!!!! headed by Snoop Dogg. In 2021, he appeared in a multi-episode arc on the third season of Black Monday as Giancarlo and played a role on the television show Hacks. That same year, he auditioned for a physical therapist role on And Just Like That... but was not selected. Later in 2021, he co-starred as SWAT Sergeant Tobias alongside Mel Gibson and Kevin Dillon in the action thriller film Hot Seat, which marked his first major film role.

Throughout his career, Asghari has stated that he avoids acting roles that play into Middle Eastern stereotypes. While he declined offers to appear on Celebrity Big Brother and The Masked Singer, he was cast in the third season of the reality television show The Traitors, released in early 2025. During the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, he joined fellow union members on the picket line.

In his personal life, Asghari previously dated actress and singer Mayra Verónica after featuring in her music video for "No Boyfriend, No Problem". He met Britney Spears in 2016 during the filming of her music video for "Slumber Party". The couple became engaged in September 2021 and married on June 9, 2022. They separated in July 2023, leading Asghari to file for divorce in August. A divorce settlement was reached in May 2024, and the divorce was finalized on December 2, 2024.
