Roselyn Sánchez

Roselyn Milagros Sánchez Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican actress known for her television and film performances. Her notable television roles include Agent Elena Delgado on the CBS police procedural series Without a Trace from 2005 to 2009, Carmen Luna on the Lifetime comedy-drama series Devious Maids from 2013 to 2016, and Elena Roarke on Fantasy Island from 2021 to 2023. Her feature film credits include Rush Hour 2, Boat Trip, The Game Plan, and Act of Valor.

Born on April 2, 1973, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Sánchez grew up as the youngest of four children alongside three older brothers. She completed her primary education in San Juan, where she displayed an early interest in performing by putting on dancing and acting shows for her family. Following in the footsteps of her father and brothers, she enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico to study marketing. She departed the university after three years, moving to New York City in 1991 at the age of eighteen to pursue training in dance, acting, and singing.

After returning to Puerto Rico, Sánchez made her film debut in 1992 with a minor role as an island girl in Captain Ron, which was partially filmed in Puerto Rico. She established a local presence as a dancer and as a co-host on the variety television show Qué Vacilón. Her career expanded through pageantry when she won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest in 1993, followed by the international Miss American Petite title in 1994. In subsequent years, she was featured on several publication lists, including Maxim's Hot 100 in 2001, 2002, and 2006, as well as lists by AskMen.com and FHM in 2005 and 2006.

In 2001, Sánchez played United States Secret Service Agent Isabella Molina in the feature film Rush Hour 2. She subsequently appeared in Chasing Papi in 2003 as Lorena, alongside Sofia Vergara and Jaci Velasquez. Over her career, she has acted in approximately twenty films, including Edison, Underclassman, the 2005 Puerto Rican production Cayo, and the 2009 neo-noir drama The Perfect Sleep. Beyond acting, Sánchez released her debut musical recording, Borinqueña, in 2003. Its lead single, "Amor Amor," earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Music Video. She also appeared in music videos for Craig David and Fabolous.

In the fall of 2005, Sánchez joined the main cast of Without a Trace, portraying Agent Elena Delgado until 2009. During this period, she composed and starred in the musical film Yellow, which was filmed in 2005 and released in 2007. That same year, she played ballet teacher Monique in The Game Plan. In 2011, she guest-starred on Rizzoli & Isles as attorney Valerie Delgado. She was later cast opposite Ana Ortiz in the pilot for Devious Maids, created by Marc Cherry. After ABC opted not to pick up the series, Lifetime ordered thirteen episodes, and the show premiered in June 2013.

Sánchez was married to actor Gary Stretch from August 1998 until April 2001. She later dated singer Víctor Manuelle before their relationship ended in late 2005. She became engaged to actor Eric Winter in December 2007, and they married in San Juan on November 29, 2008. The couple has two children, a daughter born in January 2012 and a son born in November 2017, both conceived through in vitro fertilization. Sánchez has publicly discussed her struggles with endometriosis and infertility. Additionally, she serves as the spokesperson for the Fundación de Niños San Jorge, an organization assisting sick children from low-income families.
