About Rhona Bennett
Rhona Lynn Bennett-Simon is an American singer, songwriter, actress, author, and life coach born on May 10, 1976. Raised in Calumet Park, Chicago, she is the younger sister of former Chicago Force right guard Roz Bennett. She began singing in church choirs as a child, including the Soul Children group, and performed at the ETA Creative Arts Theater at age 11 while attending Polaris High School in Oak Lawn. In 1991, Bennett joined the cast of Disney Channel's revival of The Mickey Mouse Club for its fourth season, performing skits and musical numbers alongside future stars such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake until the show's cancellation in 1994.
Following her time on the Disney Channel, Bennett moved to California to pursue acting. She earned guest roles on television series such as Living Single, The Single Guy, and Martin. In 1996, she secured a regular role on the UPN science fiction sitcom Homeboys in Outer Space, which ran through 1997. She also appeared in the 1999 independent comedy film No Vacancy before joining the fourth season of The WB's sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show as Nicole, Jamie's co-worker and singing partner.
In 2000, Bennett signed with Sony Music under producer Rodney Jerkins' imprint Darkchild Records. Her March 2001 debut single, "Satisfied," reached the top five on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart. However, internal conflicts between her label and Sony led to her self-titled debut album receiving only a limited release in Japan. In 2002, she starred in the stage play Men Cry in the Dark. The following year, she joined the R&B group En Vogue, contributing to their 2004 album Soul Flower.
Bennett toured intermittently with En Vogue over two decades, departing temporarily in 2008 before returning to appear in the 2014 Lifetime television film An En Vogue Christmas and release the 2018 album Electric Café. Alongside her work with the group, she attempted a solo album project titled The Anticipation of R&B, which was shelved in 2010, before releasing her second solo studio album, Instant Classic, through her label Butterfly In Flight in November 2024. She formally announced her departure from En Vogue in November 2025.
Beginning in the 2010s, Bennett established herself as an author and life coach under the alias Coach Rho. She launched her Personal Power coaching business in 2010 and established the online coaching school Personal Power University in 2016. Her writing career includes mini-books such as Got Motivation? How to Stay Motivated (2012), alongside titles on nutrition and coping with illness, as well as her 2022 self-help guide for musicians, Saving Your Soul. In her personal life, Bennett married Shantiel Simon in September 2022.
