Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic (née DePandi) is an American television personality and entertainment reporter. She is best known for her extensive career with the E! network, where she served as a long-time co-anchor for E! News, co-hosted Fashion Police, and led live coverage from red carpet events at major entertainment award shows.

Rancic was born on August 17, 1974, in Naples, Italy, and immigrated to the United States with her family at seven years old. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, where her father worked as a tailor with a shop in White Flint Mall. After attending Walt Whitman High School, where she was a cheerleader, she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master's degree in journalism from American University. During her studies, she reported on U.S. government stories for a Capitol Hill news bureau. She also graduated from the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School and underwent corrective surgery for scoliosis at age 21.

Rancic joined E! News as a reporter in 2002 and became an anchor in 2005, sharing hosting duties over the years with Ryan Seacrest, Terrence J, and Jason Kennedy. She frequently co-hosted E!'s red carpet broadcasts for major events including the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, while also co-hosting the network's show Fashion Police.

In addition to news reporting, Rancic created and executive produced the MTV series Celebrity Rap Superstar in 2007. She hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants on NBC, appeared briefly in the film Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, and starred alongside her husband, Bill Rancic, in the E! reality series Giuliana and Bill.

In February 2015, Rancic received public criticism for comments regarding synthetic dreadlocks worn by Zendaya at the Academy Awards. She announced her departure as E! News co-anchor on July 10, 2015, while continuing her work on Fashion Police. She returned to her anchor role on E! News on September 4, 2018. In May 2021, Rancic announced she was stepping down after 20 years as co-host of Live from the Red Carpet, with Laverne Cox named as her successor.

Outside of broadcasting, Rancic and her husband partnered with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises to open the restaurant RPM Italian in Chicago in 2012, which expanded to include RPM Steak and additional locations. In 2013, she launched the clothing line G by Giuliana on HSN, as well as a wine line named Xo, G. That same year, drawing from her personal health history, she founded Fab-U-Wish, a charity providing wishes to women receiving breast cancer treatment.

Rancic married Bill Rancic on September 1, 2007, in Anacapri, Italy. Following public discussions regarding fertility treatments and IVF procedures, she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2011, undergoing a double lumpectomy, radiation, and later a bilateral mastectomy. The couple welcomed a son via a gestational surrogate in August 2012. Among her accolades, Rancic won the Daytime Emmy Award for Fan Favorite in 2014.
