Mia Threapleton

Mia Honey Winslet Threapleton is an English actress known for her roles across film and television. She began acting in her teens and has appeared in various period dramas, anthologies, and feature films, securing her first lead role in a feature film with the 2025 release The Phoenician Scheme.

Threapleton was born on 12 October 2000 in London to actress Kate Winslet and painter-filmmaker Jim Threapleton. Her parents divorced in 2001. She grew up between New York City and England, relocating to Sussex in 2013. Her extended family includes four half-siblings, as well as relatives with backgrounds in acting, theatre management, the military, and business. Threapleton initially wanted to become a marine biologist during her childhood, but she turned her focus to acting around the age of thirteen. Her family intentionally kept her out of the public spotlight while she was growing up, and she rarely visited film sets as a child.

She made her screen debut at age 13 with a brief non-speaking cameo as Helene in the period drama film A Little Chaos (2014). To avoid direct associations with her famous mother during auditions, she used her father's surname as her stage name. Threapleton went on to secure roles through casting websites and talent agents, appearing as Alma in the 2020 Italian thriller film Shadows and as Rose in the 2022 television series Dangerous Liaisons.

In 2022, Threapleton co-starred alongside her mother and half-brother Joe Anders in "I Am Ruth," an improvised episode of the anthology series I Am... on Channel 4. The single drama went on to win a BAFTA award. She subsequently appeared in the historical drama film Firebrand (2023) and joined the cast of the Apple TV+ period drama series The Buccaneers (2023–2025). Her work in the series earned her the Breakout Artist Award at the 2025 Newport Beach Film Festival. In 2024, she made a cameo appearance in the Netflix biographical film Scoop.

Threapleton achieved a major career milestone in 2025 when she starred as Sister Liesl in Wes Anderson's black comedy film The Phoenician Scheme. After submitting a self-taped audition that stood out to Anderson among over a thousand submissions, she was cast in her first lead feature role following a screen test with co-star Benicio del Toro. The performance premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. Her upcoming projects include an untitled prison film directed by Damien Chazelle.

In her personal life, Threapleton has dyslexia and reads scripts carefully to fully absorb the material. She chooses not to use social media, and her personal hobbies include painting, drawing, photography, and mountain climbing.
