Hwang In-yeop

Hwang In-youp is a South Korean actor and model who first entered the entertainment industry as a runway model before making his acting debut in the 2018 web series Why. He is widely recognized for his performances in television series such as 18 Again, True Beauty, the Netflix original production The Sound of Magic, Why Her, Family by Choice, and Dream to You.

Hwang was born on January 19, 1991, in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He is the oldest son in his family, and his younger brother is a producer and singer-songwriter who goes by the name Inof. During his high school and college years, Hwang lived in Davao City, Philippines, where he used the English name Ryan Leon. He completed high school at the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in fashion design from the Philippine Women's University. Prior to beginning his modeling career, he completed his mandatory military service. He is also trained in several martial arts, holding a third-dan black belt in Taekwondo along with training in Hapkido and Kendo.

Hwang officially entered the entertainment industry in 2017 as a runway model under the model management company YG KPlus. In 2018, he made his screen debut with a main role in the Naver TV web series Why, subsequently signing an acting contract with KeyEast. The following year, he portrayed Seo Kyo-won in the web series Freshman and made his television debut in a supporting role in the KBS2 historical series The Tale of Nokdu.

In 2020, Hwang gained wider recognition for playing Goo Ja-sung in the JTBC fantasy series 18 Again, an adaptation of the American film 17 Again. He followed this with a main role as Han Seo-jun in the tvN romantic-comedy series True Beauty, based on the webtoon of the same name, and contributed the song It Starts Today to its official soundtrack. That same year, he starred alongside Lee Ji-ah in the independent short film Swimming Bird, which won an award at the 1st GwangMyeong Film Festival.

Hwang was cast in the Netflix fantasy musical series The Sound of Magic in 2021, performing the soundtrack song I Mean It prior to the show's global release in May 2022. He also signed with the Japanese agency Stream Media Corporation in April 2021. Hwang subsequently starred in the SBS mystery legal drama Why Her, which premiered in June 2022 and marked his first lead role on a terrestrial television network.

In 2023, Hwang was cast as Kim San-ha in the JTBC drama Family by Choice, a remake of the Chinese series Go Ahead, which aired in 2024. He signed an exclusive contract with KN Studio in January 2024. Later that year, JTBC confirmed his special appearance as Heo In-gang in the drama Dear X. In November 2025, Japanese agency J Harmony assumed management of his official Japanese X account.
