Yu Shuxin

Yu Shuxin, also known as Esther Yu, is a Chinese actress and singer. She was born on December 18, 1995, in Shanghai, China, and is the only child in her family. Her family has a background in business, with her grandfather having served as chairman of Xinyu Iron and Steel Group and her parents owning several real estate, construction, and steel companies. Yu herself is an owner and shareholder of multiple businesses. She attended Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore, graduating with a degree in Fashion Media and Industries. In November 2016, she attended and was recognized as a key sponsor of the Opening Ceremony for the President's Charity Art Exhibition 2016 at the Fullerton Hotel.

Yu began her acting career in 2015 when she made her debut in the wuxia drama Border Town Prodigal, which premiered in 2016. She gained recognition following her appearance in the variety program Grade One Freshman. In 2017, she took on supporting roles in the historical drama The Advisors Alliance and the romance family drama Ordinary Years. She secured her first leading role in 2018 in the coming-of-age drama Youth, followed by a starring role in the 2019 romantic comedy drama My Amazing Boyfriend 2.

In 2020, Yu participated in the variety program Youth With You 2, where she became one of the show's most popular trainees. On May 30, 2020, she debuted as a member of the project girl group The9, which officially disbanded on December 5, 2021. That same year, she expanded her screen roles, starring as a university student in the romance drama Find Yourself, a female investigator in the historical romance I've Fallen For You, and appearing in a recurring guest role in A Love So Romantic.

Yu continued to star in a variety of television projects in subsequent years. In 2021, she played an editor opposite Ding Yuxi in the romantic comedy drama Moonlight. Her roles in 2022 included portraying an immortal in the fantasy romance drama Love Between Fairy and Devil and a fashion blogger in the environmental romance drama A Romance of the Little Forest. In 2023, she starred in the historical wuxia drama My Journey to You, the game adaptation Sword and Fairy, and appeared in the film If You Are the One 3.

Her more recent projects include the fantasy historical drama Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, which aired in November 2024 and reunited her with Ding Yuxi. In 2025, she performed as the female lead in the romantic sports drama Ski into Love, which aired in March, and the romantic drama Speed and Love, which aired in December. Additionally, her name is associated with the project Road to Success.

Over the course of her career, Yu has earned several industry accolades and recognitions. For her role in Find Yourself, she received a nomination for the Audience's Choice award at the 30th China TV Golden Eagle Award. In 2020, she was included in the Forbes China Under 30 Elite list as a notable actress within the Entertainment and Sports sector.
