Meng was born on October 15, 1998, in Luoyang, Henan, China. During her early education, she attended the Junior High department of Luoyang Foreign Language School. At the age of 15, she moved to South Korea to begin training for a career in the entertainment industry.
In December 2015, Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment began revealing details about a joint girl group project. Meng, along with other members, participated in releasing a cover of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" on December 21, 2015. She officially debuted as a member of WJSN on February 25, 2016, with the mini-album Would You Like?. In December 2016, she performed the theme song for the movie Tohoku is spoken all over the world alongside Wu Xin and Ma Li. Meng began her acting career in 2017 with her role in the film Autumn In My Heart, and was subsequently cast in the movie Marna.
In 2018, Meng participated in the Chinese survival show Produce 101, which led to her pausing promotions for WJSN's mini-album Dream Your Dream. On June 23, 2018, she finished in first place with over 185 million votes to become a member and the center of Rocket Girls 101. In August 2018, Yuehua Entertainment and Mavericks Entertainment briefly announced her withdrawal from Rocket Girls 101 alongside two other members, but she officially returned to the group later that month following an agreement reached with Tencent.
Meng launched her solo music career in early 2019 by releasing the promotional track "有种 (Helios)" for the film The Wandering Earth. On April 23, 2019, she released her debut extended play, 犟 (Jiang). The title track served as the lead single, and the EP became the fastest-selling digital album on QQ Music in 2019 after generating over one million digital sales within twenty minutes of release. In acting, she starred as the first lead actress in Step Up: Year of the Dance and joined the main cast of the fantasy movie Jade Dynasty, which premiered on September 12, 2019.
Meng continued releasing solo music over the following years. On October 30, 2020, she released the single "Mute," followed by a music video on November 26, to promote her second EP, Love Not Love (爱·不爱). The EP also featured the tracks "Miss You" and "Quit," released in late 2020. She released her third EP, 岐义双瞳, on October 15, 2021. On November 7, 2022, she released her fourth EP, 空白频率 (White Frequency), which was accompanied by a dance music video for its lead single, "Alien."
Having been on hiatus from WJSN since early 2018 to focus on her activities in China, Meng's affiliation with the South Korean group officially came to an end on March 3, 2023. On that date, Starship Entertainment announced her departure from WJSN following the expiration of her contract.
