During her youth, she attended Xinjiang Arts University, where she majored in dancing. At the age of 16, she entered a modeling contest and won the award for Most Photogenic. In 2011, she auditioned for the Beijing Film Academy, graduating that same year. Photos taken during her audition attracted online attention, leading to her discovery and signing by Tangren Media.
Gülnezer made her professional acting debut in 2012 in the television series Xuan-Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky, rising to fame for her role as Yu Xiaoxue. In 2013, she made her film debut in Police Story 2013, followed by roles in the comedy film The Breakup Guru and the action film Black & White: The Dawn of Justice. Her early film work earned her the Newcomer award at the Golden Phoenix Awards.
In 2016, she secured her first leading role in the fantasy historical drama The Classic of Mountains and Seas. She also portrayed Diaochan in the drama God of War, Zhao Yun, and starred as the female lead in Chinese Paladin 5. In 2017, she co-starred alongside Lu Han in the high-rated fantasy action drama Fighter of the Destiny. That same year, her role as a rebellious guitar player in the music film City of Rock earned her the Breakthrough Actress award at the Huading Awards.
Gülnezer was recast as Diaochan in the 2018 film adaptation of Dynasty Warriors. Her subsequent projects include starring as a travel service product manager in the 2019 romance drama Ten Years Late alongside Shawn Dou, and playing a criminal profiler in the 2021 crime action drama Dancing in the Storm alongside William Chan.
Beyond acting, Gülnezer has served as an ambassador and spokesperson for various prominent commercial brands. She was named Chinese brand ambassador for Fendi in 2017, ambassador for Qeelin in 2018, and Greater China ambassador for Sergio Rossi in 2019. Additional commercial partnerships include serving as brand spokesperson for PRSR, Chando, Silk'n, Triumph, and Saint Laurent.
