Tom Welling

Thomas Joseph Welling is an American actor, director, producer, and former model. Born on April 26, 1977, in New York, he lived in several regions of the United States during his childhood before graduating from high school in Michigan in 1995. Prior to entering the entertainment industry, he worked in construction. In 1998, he was discovered by a modeling scout, leading to a print modeling career for fashion and apparel brands before he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

Welling transitioned to acting in 2001, making his television debut with a multi-episode guest arc on the drama series Judging Amy. Shortly thereafter, he achieved global prominence after being cast as young Clark Kent in the superhero drama series Smallville. Welling starred in the series throughout its ten-season run from 2001 to 2011, appearing in all 217 episodes. During his tenure on Smallville, he also expanded his career behind the camera, directing several episodes and serving as an executive producer for its later seasons.

In addition to his signature television role, Welling expanded into feature films. His movie credits include the family comedies Cheaper by the Dozen and Cheaper by the Dozen 2, the horror remake The Fog, the sports drama Draft Day, and the romantic drama The Choice. Following Smallville, Welling returned to television with roles in series such as Lucifer, Professionals, and The Winchesters, and he reprised his Clark Kent role in the crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Welling remains active in media and production. He co-hosts Talk Ville, a rewatch podcast dedicated to analyzing episodes of Smallville alongside his former co-star Michael Rosenbaum. He also regularly participates in fan conventions, panel discussions, and public appearances worldwide.
